Track and Field Day(s)!

We had track and field this week (Chloe on Thursday afternoon and Josiah on Friday afternoon).  Each student gets to participate in 3 things.  Chloe has been steady-eddie always picking the same three things: hurdles, hoola hoop and fox tail.  This was Josiah’s first year, so he picked a little more randomly: hippidy hop, 500 meter run and shoe kick.  Sadly they ran out of time and didn’t get to the last event… I was really excited to see that!  🙂

I was a bit anxious about bringing Maddie and Levi along to watch–mainly because it was going to fall completely on nap time–but also because it was the 2 days right before our Spring Recitals.  That meant that they would potentially miss their naps 3 days in a row and that wasn’t going to be a good idea.  So, my friend Lisa, offered to come and sit here at the house while they napped.  Isn’t that amazing!?!   It was a true win-win.  The Littles still got naps, plus I was able to just sit and relax while I watched.

Their class won the tug of war competition! They were all very excited.

I didn’t take very many pictures of Josiah’s track and field… oopsie.  But I got a fantastic picture of Josiah and Tim.  Tim was not planning on being able to make it but made it back just in time to see the end.  Josiah was THRILLED.

A week of pictures!

This week is crazy busy–so I’ve opted for a week of pictures instead of posts.  It’s my last week of teaching before the recital, plus both Chloe and Josiah have Track and Field on different days.  So, I tried really hard to get a bunch of stuff done yesterday, so hopefully that will give me a little more breathing room this week.

Also, yesterday was Tim’s Birthday!  Whooo hoo!!!

Jen brought him a bag FULL of goodies, and Chloe made him his favorite cookie (oreo balls) and I made him a cake (although I didn’t take a picture of it because it ended up looking like a giant donut…haha!).  Clearly we were not lacking in sugar!

Gah! I missed another post…

I’ve been trying to hard to be consistent in posting Monday through Friday, but the days just get the best of me!  My teaching schedule has been extra crazy since we are down to the final weeks of school.  There are tons of swaps and cancellations and extra lessons because of sports, recitals, etc.  One more week of chaos and then things will calm down nicely.

Last weekend was fun but full.  We had Allison over for an extended sleepover (Friday night through Sunday noon), Tim helped some of our friends move all day Saturday, we had church on Sunday morning, the Chilsons swung by for a visit on Sunday afternoon and the kids had their final swim lessons Sunday evening!  We managed to fit everything in, but it was busy.

Josiah passed his swimming class but Chloe did not… so they are officially in the same level now (Level 4).  Crazy, right?  Chloe is not a fan of putting her face in the water, so she’s not progressing as quickly.  Perhaps now that they are in the same class she’ll have the motivation to push herself a little more.  Time will tell…

Happiness is…

  • Bullet points.  Those make me happy.
  • Lists.  I also like those.  Which tend to go hand in hand with bullet points…
  • Coffee.  Yes.  I like coffee.  Especially the smell of coffee shops… mmmmm…
  • Watching Levi push Maddie on the swing.
  • Hearing Chloe and Josiah use their imagination together.
  • Seeing Chloe’s beautiful cursive handwriting.
  • Hearing Levi say, “Mama, I wove you”
  • Getting the new How To Train Your Dragon 3 movie!!!
  • Only two more weeks of teaching until summer!
  • The smell of freshly baked Cinnamon Banana Muffins.

Smiles and Goodbyes

The other day, a friend of ours snapped this picture of Maddie at church.  She had (obviously) been thoroughly enjoying her chocolaty treat in between the services and had the evidence to show!

Today Tim is out in South Dakota with his siblings for the funeral of his Uncle Dan.  Dan was Peggy and Patsy’s younger brother.  He passed away this past week and today a bit unexpectedly.  I didn’t know him very well, but I am still sad for the loss and for everyone that knew him more.

Someone took this picture of Tim and his siblings at the funeral, and I just had to share.  I just love sibling pictures.  I’m glad they were all able to be there to say farewell to their uncle.
