Josiah has a new favorite place to hang out.
Yup.
The bottom step. It’s pretty funny actually. And he’s happy as a lark there. So I guess I can’t complain, eh? 😉
Writing about all the big & little things
Apparently I accidentally spaced that Josiah was supposed to go in for a 15 month check-up… so he went from his 12 month to his 18 month. But, hey! He’s healthy, and normal, right? So, anyway, he went in this morning for his 18 month visit.
And what do you know. He’s healthy and normal. 🙂
Here are his specs:
He’s still big, but if I recall correctly, not quite as big as Chloe was at that age. He’s also finally over whatever cold or sickness he had last week and back to his normal self. Although his “normal” self has become a bit sassy these days… but we’re working through it…
This year I had a longer break than normal–2.5 weeks off. I thought I would go stir crazy but lo and behold, I can’t believe it’s already gone! I had grand plans to visit friends and scrapbook and organize, but alas, that will just have to wait for another day. Today I’m working on getting contest stuff in order (can you believe it’s almost time to start talking about that again!?) and getting myself back in the teaching mind-set. I have students coming in 15 min. so my Christmas break is officially over. It really was a great break, though. 🙂
I’ve braved the crowds this week to finish up some last minute Christmas shopping. It really wasn’t bad until last night. I had one more item to run out and pick up for Josiah and it was CRAZY–it felt like Black Friday all over again. 🙂 But I wasn’t in a hurry so I just let the crazy people scuttle around me as I meandered through the stores. This year we did our shopping a little later (and a lot online) so it hasn’t really felt like Christmas so me until now. Plus now that we have snow I feel much more festive as well.
Yesterday I was going to head up to visit Shannon but Tim came down with something yucky, so I had to stay home. I was bummed but I’m glad to report that Tim is feeling a lot better today. He’s actually eating real food again this morning! I’m just glad that he got it yesterday and not closer to Christmas. We think it was perhaps food poisoning because there weren’t many other symptoms which leaves me hopeful that no one else will catch it.
Tomorrow (or more likely “today” when you read this post!) we’re heading to St. Cloud for Tim’s side Christmas. Chloe is quite excited to see all of her cousins –she reminded me again as she was going to bed tonight… 🙂 I’m excited to hang out with everyone and enjoy some festive food! I’m sure I’ll have a few pictures to post soon!
Before I go, here is a funny picture of Josiah waiting anxiously for the cookies to bake. I thought it was so funny how he kept peering in to check on them. He’s a hoot these days!
Last night was Halloween. I wasn’t sure if I was going to take Chloe & Josiah trick-or-treating or not but since all my students after supper cancelled I decided that we would go out for a little bit. Jen came and dressed up and went with us. Oh, and a family from church who has kids about the same age as Chloe wanted to swing by and say hi to Chloe, so they came with us for a couple of blocks as well. All in all, it was fun. Josiah wasn’t crazy about sitting in the wagon–he would much rather be pulling it. No, scratch that. He would rather be pushing it backwards. So you can see why we had a battle about that. 🙂
We made our rounds to say hi to all the neighbors and then made our way home. We were only out for 1 hour (and didn’t go very far at all!) but going up and down every sidewalk to every door with little kids is quite time consuming. By the time we got home EVERYONE was tired and ready to be done. Which was good, because Chloe said she didn’t feel good and laid down on the couch. Then as we were getting the kids into bed she threw up… So, I guess she was right!
So, both kids are now sick. 🙁 I’m working at disinfecting the house before my lessons start coming. She may have caught the Croup that they say Josiah has, but Tim and I are not convinced that’s what it is. But who are we to say differently…? Either way, they are sick and, Croup or not, they need a couple of days to lay low and get better.
I’ll post pictures of our pumpkin party tomorrow!
Josiah developed a rash this past week. It didn’t really seem to bother him at all and we had originally attributed it on his cheeks to teething. However after spreading to his arms, belly and thighs, we agreed that it unrealistic to blame it all on simply teething… But, like I said, the rash really didn’t bother him, so we weren’t worried. Last weekend he had a slight fever and was sleeping more, but again, we thought it was simply those giant molars starting to poke through.
We had made plans a while back to have some friends from church over this past weekend and I remembered that both ladies are currently pregnant, so I decided we needed to let them know in case they didn’t want to be exposed to our “unknown virus.” So, after calling back and forth to the nurse line then my friend then she called her midwife then called me again–we came to the conclusion that it was just a viral rash. We talked through the idea of it being 5ths disease and Roseola but neither seemed to really fit. So, it appears to be nothing serious. Plus, the nurse confirmed that a rash that wasn’t bothering him without a fever present would not be contagious.
So… all that to say we don’t know exactly what it is. But we don’t think it’s serious. And it doesn’t bother him. It’s definitely going away as well– this morning it had subsided significantly. But for those curious, here are some pictures from today:
