Writing about all the big & little things
Can I just say… it’s so hard to stay mad at Josiah when he looks up at me with those big eyes and giant smile. Even if he’s doing something wrong.
He was just SO EXCITED about finding the sticker box. And, bless his little heart, he was so willing to share them with me. 🙂
Today was a rough day. No big reason why. Just one of those days where you want to go back to bed very early on. So it’s nice to have little glimmers of joy to make me laugh.
Like when I walk in Josiah’s room to get him up after his nap and he’s so excited to see me that he actually starts doing summersaults. No joke. He was laughing and bouncing all around that it made me stop and chuckle.
I spent the day cleaning and getting everything ready for our trip. It was a productive day, but I’m bummed I wasn’t able to get enough other things done today. I had a few studio things I wanted to catch up on before August, but I guess that will just have to wait until we get back. 🙂
We did have a stressful evening when I discovered I couldn’t find Josiah’s Birth Certificate–we need it in order to bring him on the plane. So, after digging EVERYWHERE… and freaking out a bit… (okay A LOT!) and eating too many M&M’s in my distress… I’m happy to say I found it. Ah!
I put together a few “bags of distractions” for Josiah on the plane ride today. The plan is to pull one out at a time and let him play with the items until he starts to get bored and then move to the next one. We’ll also have food, don’t worry. I’m hoping the combination between the food, bags of distractions, strangers all around and an overdue naptime will lead to a pleasant tolerable flight.
From Left to Right:
1) stickers and unsharpened pencils
2) rubber band weird balls
3) elastic key rings and light up bouncy balls
4) glitter puff balls
5) play doh (I’m not sure if they’re going to take these away, but it was worth a shot)
My baby boy turned 1 today.
It’s crazy how time flies! He has developed into such a clever, affectionate little tank of a man I couldn’t have even imagined a year ago. I always wondered how I would be able to love a second child as much as Chloe but it is absolutely true. I don’t love Chloe any less I simply love him too–it’s as if my heart grew. 🙂
Chloe has been a big part of Josiah’s life (as to be expected…) She was VERY excited to finally meet the baby when I was still pregnant and we did a lot of preparing her and explaining. A LOT of explaining. She’s a talker, that girl. 🙂 But we were delighted at how exceptionally well she jumped right into the role of big sister and has continued to be a wonderful help. It’s amazing how much she has grown over the past year as well!
We had a pretty low key day (Josiah was actually feeling a bit under the weather and had a fever on Tuesday). We did go to the beach with the Baker’s this morning which ended up being a bit chilly for a change. Other than that we didn’t do much–he did get to open his box from Great Grandma Fritz which was some awesome trucks that I’m sure he’ll LOVE when he’s feeling better. 🙂
We’re celebrating on Sunday so I’m sure I’ll have more pictures to post then.
~ pictures of the time out bottles coming tomorrow!
~ it was really pleasant weather wise today.
~ Josiah is SO much happier now that he’s walking and mobile now. He was delightful today. Such a happy boy!
~ I’m excited for our anniversary coming this week.
~ I’m hoping this week is a little cooler–for Tim’s sake!
~ Chloe is working on her scissors cutting skills and getting pretty good.
~ Josiah can say “more please” in sign language at meals. It’s SO. ADORABLE.
~ Chloe’s piggy tales curl into a big spiral. It’s also SO. ADORABLE. 🙂
~ I bought some lemonade this week but neglected to note that it was perishable and needed to be stored in the refrigerator… so our fridge is rather full of lemonade right now. Ooops! Hehe…
~ Chloe’s new morning job is to water the flowers outside with the hose.
~ I love that Chloe is old enough for responsibilities now! 😉
I’ve been checking around and it appears that a lot of people have a lot of stuff going on right now! Summer is definitely in full swing and that means busy, busy, busy!
And the same goes for us. Although I can’t say what exactly has been keeping me so busy lately… but I know I go to bed tired and my to do list is only getting marginally shorter every day!
Here are a few pictures from the past week or so…
With the hot weather I decided it was time to give Josiah his very first hair cut. The hair around his ears was starting to “wing” out funny. It had finally started to pass the point of adorable and messy to just messy… I was a little nervous about trimming it myself, but I’ve been cutting Tim’s hair for years now, so I figured I should give it a try! Josiah did really great–no crying at all. I wasn’t sure how long (or super short!) it was going to turn out so, now that we’ve experimented now I’ll be more confident next time.

After (tidy--no more wings) oh and that one spot sticking out isn't sticking out any more... I fixed it.
