Writing about all the big & little things
Tim took JD to the doctor on Wednesday morning and the results were good (not excellent, but we already knew that since he has been coughing like crazy…) He has a bronchial infection that could develop into bronchitis or some other sickness so he’s been put on the nebulizer. He has to take 3 doses a day until he’s making some improvement. It’s hard to see much difference yet, but he does seem to be sleeping better, which is good. Tim said they also had to remove a little ear wax build up and he most definitely did NOT like that–I’m glad I wasn’t there…
So, we’re thankful that he doesn’t have anything more serious and that we are able to get him on medication right away to help him get over this faster.
And that means, the “panda neby” has made a come-back!
Chloe was on the panda neby when she was about 4 months as well. They both seem to just sit and take it quite nicely (which I find amusing). I’ll have to see if I can dig up an old picture of Chloe using the neby…
Look I found the picture of her using the panda neby from the old post!
Monday is cleaning day. I’ve made this decision semi-recently and it helps me to enjoy my weekend a little more. This way I know I don’t have to worry about doing big cleaning until Monday. I’m not sure how Tim is going to like it when he’s here on his off-season, but it seems to be working nicely so hopefully he’ll be on board with me. 🙂 Anyway, Chloe even knows it’s cleaning day, so she helps tidy up and stuff as I work. It’s always nice to get to the end of the day and know the house is clean (well cleaner at least).
Speaking of Tim’s off-season… I think he’s officially done with work for the year. He does have a small side job lined up here in town for this week, and there is the slight possibility of getting one more through Colonial Stone, but most likely not. It’s so strange that he’s done so early–and there’s not even snow on the ground yet!
I’m actually glad Tim is going to be around this week, because I don’t think I’m going to take JD to BSF this Wednesday morning. He’s still struggling with his cold and he’s been coughing a bit more, so I don’t want to contaminate the other babies. I forget that I’m not as worried about him since he’s so hefty but so many of the other babies are really tiny still. So, I figure I should be more considerate of the other babies. By next week I’m sure he’ll be back to normal.
I’m heading to St. Cloud tomorrow to spend the afternoon with Shannon and help out with Xavi. She is still on bed rest–can you believe it’s already been 26 days!?! She’s officially 31.5 weeks along (if I remember correctly) and they hope she’ll make it to 36 weeks… so just a few more weeks to go. I’m excited to see how much bigger her belly has grown since the last time I saw her. 🙂
In other news I went to see the Vintage Porch this morning–which is a house that my family is renting for New Year’s weekend when we all get together. It’s sooooo cool. I’m so excited. (Oh, and if my family is reading this I wrote more about the house on our Christmas website so check there for more info.) It’s going to be wonderful to be able to hang out in a larger house so we can all be together and not be tripping over each other like we would be here. It makes me extra excited for Christmas to come!
I had a meeting in St. Paul this morning to help assign judges for the MMTA piano contest. I was reminded how much I hate driving into the cities, and yet how unbelievably grateful I am to have a navigation application on my phone (which was a great help me when I got lost due to so much construction and detours…) Tim was able to stay home with the kids this morning since his schedule is starting to wind down. Then when I got home from my meeting he went to work for the afternoon. He said he’s probably down to a week or less of work. I can’t believe we’re already to his off season–this fall has just whizzed by! I guess life with an infant will make things a blur…
Speaking of infant–he’ll be turning 4 months in November and do you know what that means? He gets to start trying a few “solid” foods! Not that he needs help growing more by any means, but it will be a fun new chapter in his life. 🙂 That also means it’s just about time to dig out and clean off our high chair for round two in the Friesen household!
Well, JD finally caught the bug. He’s been sleeping most of the day and when he’s awake he’ll make this pathetic whining moan… it tears at my heart strings. I held him a lot this morning. Poor little kiddo. Hopefully he’ll be able to sleep off most of this yucky cold and be back in good spirits tomorrow.
Besides, tomorrow is our Pumpkin party, so we’ll have lots to do and lots of people around so he should be distracted for most of the day. 🙂 I’ll keep you posted!
So it’s Sunday night. Chloe is finally tucked in bed and JD is just about to take his final short nap for the day. I thought it was about time to sit down and write something since it’s been a few days. This week was unusual because I actually didn’t have to leave the house for anything big (like Music Seminars or BSF). I had planned on going to BSF on Wednesday but Chloe got sick the night before and I didn’t want to contaminate the other kids. It was strange to stay close to home all week. We did manage our normal errands (Target, Cub, Sam’s Club, etc.) throughout the week, but it was all at a nice relaxed tempo.
And you would think with all of that “free” time that I would have had so much more time to sit and catch up, but alas, no. I found myself just as busy as ever. Funny how that goes, huh? We did manage a nice walk on Wednesday morning however, since I had planned on being gone.
This weekend has just whizzed by as well. I got a lot of the cleaning done today (and a great workout!) but I forgot to make any phone calls until now–and now it’s too late… I meant to call Kylene back today (sorry Sissy!) and I meant to call Mom to find out how her trip went (sorry Mom!) and I meant to call Shannon to see how she’s feeling (sorry Shannon!). So, you should all know that I had the best of intentions…
In other news, Chloe has developed a cough. It’s definitely not as barky as it was on Wednesday–now it’s more of a tickle in the throat kind of cough with a runny nose. I’m pretty sure she’s passed it (or will be passing it) to me. Lucky me. Tim is recovering from his cold that lasted for about 2 weeks. Needless to say, we’ve been drinking a lot of orange juice around here this week. I guess we weren’t able to bypass all of the sicknesses this fall. Hopefully this will be the worst of it.
Today a gal at church gave me a homemade sling as a gift. I’m quite excited to start using it. I didn’t really have any need for a sling when Chloe was a baby since it was just her. But I’ve discovered with two kids that I sometimes just don’t have enough hands to hold JD and help Chloe at the same time. Now, I’m not the kind of Mom that feels the need to hold him all the time, but this will help me be more productive when I do need to. It’s going to take me a while to get comfortable with it and figure out how to put him in, but I’m excited!
See, isn’t it pretty?
I’m doing the Slim-in-6 workout series. I’m just finishing the 2nd week and I’m feeling so much better. It’s amazing how getting back into exercising can make me feel so much more normal. The first week was pretty tough and I was quite sore, but the second week was amazingly better. I had a bad eating day today but I know I’m going to have those once in a while and the rest of the week was great, so it’s not all that devastating. I’ll post my results at the end of the six weeks for those who are curious.
We’re having our annual Pumpkin Party this coming Saturday. Hopefully it will be gorgeous weather like today. It’s normally quite chilly so by the time I finish carving my pumpkin, my hands are numb… I’m excited to see everyone again.
Shannon is still doing well and on bed rest at home. She’s made it to 30 weeks along, though, which is AWESOME!!! I wouldn’t say she’s feeling great, but the baby is still growing so that’s a blessing. It’s funny to be so excited about counting the days up that she’s pregnant and not down. 🙂
JD is very close to rolling over. Tim said he did it once the other night while I was teaching, but I have yet to see it. He is using his legs for momentum and pulling his arm down and under him but he just can’t quite get himself over. I expect any day now.
Well, it’s official. Josiah is now sleeping through the night. I didn’t want to say it was official until it had continued for a few days and now he’s gone a full week with only a day or two waking up. I’m starting to feel more like myself. And it’s wonderful.
So, the “worst part” of having a newborn is finally behind me. The endless feedings, countless newborn dirty diapers, long nights, forgetting what day it is, trying to find a schedule, then adjusting to the new schedule, worrying about every sound when he sleeps, making sure he’s gaining weight (no problem there!)… all those things are now a thing of the past. He’s growing like a champ, eating like a champ and now sleeping like a champ. That’s my boy! 🙂
