{"id":10448,"date":"2016-04-14T14:03:30","date_gmt":"2016-04-14T19:03:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amadeusacademy.com\/family\/?p=10448"},"modified":"2016-04-14T14:03:46","modified_gmt":"2016-04-14T19:03:46","slug":"timers-and-naps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/friesens.inkingmythinking.com\/?p=10448","title":{"rendered":"Timers and naps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I sit in my studio I can hear the distant chirping of the timer.<\/p>\n<p>It makes me stop typing and smile. \u00a0I listen carefully for the floppy stomp of a boy struggling to wake up and find the timer to turn it off. \u00a0One loud beep and I know he&#8217;s found it. \u00a0There&#8217;s a few more seconds and then I hear the slow click and opening of his bedroom door.<\/p>\n<p>I wait patiently as he sleepily meanders down the stairs and heads straight into my studio to hand me the timer.<\/p>\n<p>His little blonde head appears in the doorway. \u00a0&#8220;Here you go Mom&#8221; he mumbles, rubbing his eyes.<\/p>\n<p>I smile. \u00a0 &#8220;Thanks buddy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One quick hug and as he pulls away. \u00a0I can tell he&#8217;s fully awake now. \u00a0With bright eyes he darts from the door to find a toy. \u00a0Probably something he set out on his train table to play with after his nap. \u00a0Today is was a toy car and track.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s already started asking when he&#8217;s old enough to just have quiet times instead of naps. \u00a0I hate to let them go. \u00a0But he&#8217;s growing up, so I told him he can change to quiet times when he turns 5.<\/p>\n<p>That means I only have 3 more months of these sweet sleepy midday hugs left.<\/p>\n<p>And I will cherish every one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As I sit in my studio I can hear the distant chirping of the timer.
