{"id":11161,"date":"2016-11-04T15:02:58","date_gmt":"2016-11-04T20:02:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amadeusacademy.com\/family\/?p=11161"},"modified":"2016-11-04T15:02:58","modified_gmt":"2016-11-04T20:02:58","slug":"thankful-jar-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/friesens.inkingmythinking.com\/?p=11161","title":{"rendered":"Thankful Jar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amadeusacademy.com\/family\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/thankful-jar-2-R.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11163\" src=\"http:\/\/amadeusacademy.com\/family\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/thankful-jar-2-R.jpg\" alt=\"thankful-jar-2-r\" width=\"400\" height=\"602\" srcset=\"http:\/\/friesens.inkingmythinking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/thankful-jar-2-R.jpg 680w, http:\/\/friesens.inkingmythinking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/thankful-jar-2-R-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve started our Thankful Jar again this year.<\/p>\n<p>Every night at supper we each say something we are thankful for and I jot it on a slip of paper and add it to the jar. \u00a0I think this is our 3rd year doing this. \u00a0The first year was super hard to remember to do it every day, and then last year we were a little better at remembering, and now this year I think we&#8217;ve got it figured out. \u00a0In fact, it&#8217;s the kids who are most excited to do it every night! \u00a0I can barely walk in from teaching and sit down at the dinner table before they are excitedly telling me they are ready to tell me what they are thankful for.<\/p>\n<p>This is a &#8220;Fall tradition&#8221; that I didn&#8217;t actually mean to create, but somehow it&#8217;s become our thing. \u00a0And I love it. \u00a0And isn&#8217;t that the best kind of tradition? \u00a0The kind that springs up just spontaneously in your family? \u00a0I hope we can continue this for many years, \u00a0eventually adding Maddie to the conversation and eventually little Levi will get a say too.<\/p>\n<p>And it&#8217;s been a good thing \u00a0for me recently. \u00a0In my overwhelming days (which I admit are outweighing my normal days right now) I sometimes have a hard time thinking of things I&#8217;m thankful for. \u00a0It&#8217;s too easy to complain about what DIDN&#8217;T go my way today, or what I DIDN&#8217;T get accomplished, or what I&#8217;m unhappy about. \u00a0It makes me stop and look around me.<\/p>\n<p>So, today I am thankful for the thankful jar. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve started our Thankful Jar again this year.
