{"id":4548,"date":"2012-01-27T22:25:02","date_gmt":"2012-01-28T04:25:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amadeusacademy.com\/family\/?p=4548"},"modified":"2012-01-27T22:25:02","modified_gmt":"2012-01-28T04:25:02","slug":"time-for-a-little-play-doh-creativity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/friesens.inkingmythinking.com\/?p=4548","title":{"rendered":"Time for a little play-doh creativity."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amadeusacademy.com\/family\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/play-doh-fun.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4555\" title=\"play doh fun\" src=\"http:\/\/amadeusacademy.com\/family\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/play-doh-fun-1024x680.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"http:\/\/friesens.inkingmythinking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/play-doh-fun-1024x680.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/friesens.inkingmythinking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/play-doh-fun-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Chloe loves play-doh.\u00a0 I thought this would be a phase, but she seems to be getting more and more into it as she gets older.\u00a0 Her favorite thing is to play restaurant.\u00a0 She&#8217;ll ask us what we would like to eat, then she&#8217;ll make it and bring it to us to &#8220;eat.&#8221;\u00a0 It&#8217;s funny how every thing we ask for seems to look strangely alike&#8230; all like plates of tiny play-doh pieces&#8230;. hmmm&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the loves to cut \/ tear \/ rip \/ crumble the play-doh into tiny pieces which is creating quite the mess lately.\u00a0 But more than that, it&#8217;s drying out SUPER fast.\u00a0 So.\u00a0 The time has come to roll up my sleeves and make some homemade play-doh.<\/p>\n<p>I have a recipe from my childhood days that I&#8217;m going to try first&#8211;I know it works and, if I remember correctly, it&#8217;s quite easy.\u00a0 But I also found 2 other recipes the other day that I thought were worth a try as well.\u00a0 Once I&#8217;ve attempted to make them, I&#8217;ll do a &#8220;product review&#8221; to let you know which one I think is better.\u00a0 Hopefully this will be helpful to any of you out there who might be going through play-doh like candy (like we are!).<\/p>\n<p>Here are the recipes: (in case anyone else cares to try along with me)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>1. MY CHILDHOOD PLAY-DOH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Mix in saucepan:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 c. flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c. salt<\/li>\n<li>2 T. cream of tarter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Add&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 c. water<\/li>\n<li>1 T. oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stir over medium heat until it &#8220;globs.&#8221;\u00a0 Divide into sections and add food coloring by kneading WELL.<\/p>\n<p>_______________________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2. KOOL-AID PLAYDOUGH<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Measure and mix together in a bowl:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> 2 \u00bd cups of flour<\/li>\n<li> \u00bd cup salt<\/li>\n<li> 1 Tbsp. cream of tartar<\/li>\n<li> 2 pkgs of unsweetened Kool-Aid<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Boil 2 cups of water.  Add to dry ingredients with 3 Tbsp. of oil.<\/p>\n<p>Knead together until well mixed, and let cool.  Store in a plastic baggy  or covered container in the refrigerator to last the longest.<br \/>\nYou can make all different colors from one batch by putting in the  Kool-Aid after you have mixed the dough and separated it into smaller  sections.<\/p>\n<p>This playdough is easy to make, lasts for a long time, and smells delicious!<\/p>\n<p>________________________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>3.
