We’re getting used to having a morning routine.\u00a0 Tim is just leaving for work as we all get up and start getting ready.\u00a0 It’s taken a few days, but I’m finally figuring out how much time we need to get everything done in time to walk leisurely to the bus stop.\u00a0 The key word in that sentence is leisurely.\u00a0 There have been days that have been a bit chaotic and, while we’ve made it to the bus in time, it was not the kind of tone I hope to set for her day.\u00a0 (And, if you know me at all, you’ll\u00a0 be ready for this next sentence…) So, we have our morning “to-do” list that we check off things as we accomplish them.\u00a0 She is in charge of crossing the items off and when she is totally done with everything on the list she is welcome to play or listen to adventures in odyssey.\u00a0 Granted, that has never happened yet, but I hope it will eventually.<\/p>\n
As for me, I’m always amazed at how quickly I fall right back into my school routine.\u00a0 It takes a couple days to remember that I don’t have any afternoon\/evening time anymore, but then I find that I’m able to be just as productive on my mornings as I have been on my whole summer days.\u00a0 Hah!\u00a0 Go figure.\u00a0 But I guess summer is meant to be relaxed, right?\u00a0\u00a0 And while I “mourn” the change of the season and loosing my freedom, I forget how much joy I get in seeing all my students again.<\/p>\n
And it’s at that moment when I’m listening to their summer time stories and teaching them the correct counting of a dotted quarter note + eighth note that I remember how much I love what I do.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
