Tim asked me to pick up some egg roll wrappers the other day while I was grocery shopping. \u00a0 I figured it was no big deal. \u00a0Although I’ve never actually purchased egg roll wrappers I had a general idea of what I thought they might look like and I had\u00a0heard<\/em> of other people using them before. \u00a0How hard could it be to find them?<\/p>\n

Apparently, if you’re me, it will be very hard to find them. \u00a0I walked up and down the aisles at cub twice, scouring the ethnic foods section both times. \u00a0Asked a checkout lady who directed me to freezer (or so she thought?) and walked up and down those aisles twice. \u00a0Called Tim to tell me what they were called again. \u00a0Started to google them on my phone so I could see what they should look like. \u00a0 And then, FINALLY, I found them! \u00a0They were tucked away behind the guy stocking food in the ethnic food aisle. \u00a0See–I wasn’t crazy. \u00a0They were bigger than I expected. \u00a0In fact they resemble the size of tortilla shells.<\/p>\n

Now, I’ve never used rice paper before. \u00a0And if you look at that picture above again, you’ll notice there are no directions on it. \u00a0Oh, and it’s not written in English. \u00a0So, after a little bit of internet help we were on our way…<\/p>\n

It was so interesting using these. \u00a0Apparently you soak them slightly, let them rest on a paper towel until they get just a little tacky (think posty-note) and then roll them up. \u00a0It was actually fun. \u00a0We were trying to make Wonton Mozzerella Sticks. \u00a0You can find the recipe and image HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Basically it’s a cheese stick with a couple of pepperoni slices rolled up and then deep fat fried.<\/p>\n

When we fried them they didn’t actually turn nice and golden like the image on the recipe. \u00a0It was more of a whiter color. \u00a0But they had a really nice, light & crispy crunch to them. \u00a0We only made 2 just to see if we liked them. \u00a0I would definitely try making them again (and more this time!). \u00a0We enjoy trying new things once in a while. \u00a0It’s fun to experiment.<\/p>\n

Did I ever tell you about the the deep fat fried cake balls with cream cheese frosting that we made last year?<\/p>\n
