Summer Vacation and PUPPS!?!

Summer vacation is full swing here!  We’ve made it through one full week of summer bliss.  Well, actually it was a tad chilly here most of the week, so most of the outdoor things they had been dreaming of weren’t quite as enticing, but they still had fun.  Chloe’s summer list is so funny. She has very specific things she wants to do this summer, some of which include: make ice cream sandwiches, have 100 sleepovers, go shorts shopping, watch 3 movies outside.  🙂

One of my summer goals is to learn how to play tennis (and by “play” I mean volley the ball to each other nicely back and forth).  We have a tennis court down the street so we resurrected our rackets and bought some new tennis balls.  We played 3 different days this week, to varying success… and we’ve already lost 5 balls. I know.  FIVE.  Sheesh!  But I do have 4 kids all playing with the balls at the same time, so some are bound to go missing.  But we are getting better.  It’s going to take a while before we can actually hit it back and forth more than just once or twice, but I’m having a good time.

In other random news, I seem to have a rash on my hands again… that is acting a lot like my beloved friend, PUPPS again.  It’s so strange!  And no.  A resounding NO, I am not pregnant.  This happened to me once before, do you remember?  I just looked back in my old posts, and I apparently had to go into Urgent Care to have it looked at about 2 years ago.  I did go in to a minute clinic this weekend and she coudn’t figure it out.  And 2 years, they couldn’t tell me what it was either!  So… I have a very itchy random rash on my hands, that I’m hoping goes away soon.  I tell you, if this is PUPPS, I must be like the .0000005% of women to suffer with it while NOT being pregnant!  Crazy. So, now I wait. Hopefully it will run its course quickly.

I might have said this before, but I had 5ths disease in High School and I remember after it went away it would resurface on the front of my thighs when I would run really hard.  My theory (probably quite far fetched) is that I have some of the PUPPS virus just sitting dormant in me and I’ve stirred it up by losing weight.  That’s probably not how the body works, but I’m going with that explanation to make me feel better.  😉

Tune back in tomorrow for some pictures!  Don’t worry, it will be of the kids, not of my PUPPS.  Haha!

Last day of school!

That’s it folks!  Done with 1st grade and 4th grade!

And since I’m a sucker for side by side comparisons… here you go!  First and last day of school 2018-2019!

This was a big year for Chloe.  She discovered her LOVE of reading, and started to work more diligently on spelling better.  Of course, Josiah has continued to read just as much, but he already knew he loved reading.  😉

Spring Recital 2019

Our Spring Recital was a smashing success (of course!).  Chloe and Josiah both played very well.  I accidentally didn’t turn on all the stage lights for the first recital (oops!) so the picture turned out a tad dark, but I know now which switches to flip.

Josiah and Chloe have started to come with me to help set up which is proving to be very helpful.  I love it that they are at an age where they can do so much!

I did have 4 Seniors this year–I always get so nervous when I need to make a special speech, but it seemed to go just fine.

Track and Field Day(s)!

We had track and field this week (Chloe on Thursday afternoon and Josiah on Friday afternoon).  Each student gets to participate in 3 things.  Chloe has been steady-eddie always picking the same three things: hurdles, hoola hoop and fox tail.  This was Josiah’s first year, so he picked a little more randomly: hippidy hop, 500 meter run and shoe kick.  Sadly they ran out of time and didn’t get to the last event… I was really excited to see that!  🙂

I was a bit anxious about bringing Maddie and Levi along to watch–mainly because it was going to fall completely on nap time–but also because it was the 2 days right before our Spring Recitals.  That meant that they would potentially miss their naps 3 days in a row and that wasn’t going to be a good idea.  So, my friend Lisa, offered to come and sit here at the house while they napped.  Isn’t that amazing!?!   It was a true win-win.  The Littles still got naps, plus I was able to just sit and relax while I watched.

Their class won the tug of war competition! They were all very excited.

I didn’t take very many pictures of Josiah’s track and field… oopsie.  But I got a fantastic picture of Josiah and Tim.  Tim was not planning on being able to make it but made it back just in time to see the end.  Josiah was THRILLED.
