Writing about all the big & little things

Random facts about the kids:

  • Maddie loves it when people stand on the other side of the fence and put their faces up next to the gate (on the steps).    She laughs and laughs.
  • Josiah loves giving Maddie hugs.  All.  The.  Time.
  • Chloe desperately wants to be able to babysit Maddie and Josiah.
  • Maddie can say “good night” which comes out like “Gah-Nah”  or more like “Gah-Gah”  but she waves and everything.
  • Josiah loves eating peppers.  And onions.  And Tomatoes.
  • Chloe is really starting to read well.  She’s reading her first book with no pictures this week, and STILL likes it.
  • Maddie does not like broccoli
  • Josiah often forgets to dry his hands after he washes them.
  • Chloe tries to hold Maddie so many times a day that I’ve enforced a limit now…
  • Maddie only uses a nuk in her crib and spits it out when she wakes up (if she hasn’t already)
  • Josiah wants to start piano.
  • Chloe is learning to do her own hair and experimenting with new styles.
  • Maddie is a walking pro now, and super proud of herself.
  • Josiah learned how to pump on a swing this summer.
  • Chloe is so amazingly helpful.  I’m dreading school starting and losing her!  😉

Odds and Ends Post

So… strangely my rings fit again.  Weird, huh?  I took them out to have them cleaned yesterday and decided to try and put them back on for safe keeping on the way home from the ring store, and *viola!* they fit.

In other news, Josiah had his Birthday Party today.  He invited his 2 best buddies (who are the same age and go to our church) over and Tim took the boys to a splash pad to play in the water.  Then they came home and made personal pan pizzas and enjoyed green cupcakes with purple frosting (I kid you not–that was his exact color choice).

And one more random bit of information… I really should have given the kids tablets a long time ago, because they are so helpful and eager to do their chores now!  😉

Peaceful Early Morning

fog R

Can you see the fog rising off of the field? I thought it was so picturesque.

The other morning I woke up super early.  Well, it was super early for me, at least.

It was 6:00.

I cherish sleeping, especially the harder it is to get comfortable at night amidst the mountain of pillows and baby pushing on my lungs and bladder.  🙂  So the fact that I woke up at 6:00 and decided to just get up is pretty surprising.  And, in true fashion, Madison seemed to just “sense” that I was awake and decided to be up then too… so we came downstairs and made our way out onto the deck so we didn’t disturb anyone else.  She played happily and I sat and enjoyed the fresh morning air.

It’s so peaceful here.  I love being close to the edge of town so I can look out and see fields and even hear cows from time to time.   Simple joys.

I’ll write more tomorrow…

We’ve had a fun filled couple of week with Maddie’s first birthday party, Mom & Dad visiting, the 4th of July weekend, projects around the house and now Chloe left for camp today–the time has just slipped through my fingers the past few days.  I’ll sit down and write more tomorrow, but today I’m teaching until 9:00, so I know I won’t have any energy left to write today.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Pictures to come tomorrow!

Back to teaching (well, a little bit)

I started my summer teaching schedule today.  I’m only teaching on Mondays and Tuesdays over the summer, so it will be a nice break from the full schedule.  I added up how many students are taking at least a couple lessons over the summer and I have 45 students.  That’s really not bad considering I normally have roughly 65 students in the school year.  Unfortunately I didn’t do enough planning and prepping for today last week, so I was up to my eyeballs in paperwork and clearing the books and getting new student folders ready (I have SIX new students starting over the summer!)… so it was a busy day.

In other news we had a fun filled weekend:  we went to St. Cloud to visit Shannon on Saturday (pictures to come this week) and then we had a BBQ with church friends yesterday night.  The BBQ ended up being a little more exciting than we expected when they opened their grill to make the steaks only to find a mouse with less than a week old babies living in their grill!  They used their grill less than a week ago–isn’t that crazy!?  Needless to say, there was screaming and running around and holding the dog back… I actually turned away as soon as they started screaming because I thought they had already started the grill and that they were on fire, but I was wrong.  He had JUST turned on the burner and turned it off before he lit anything on fire… The did decide to walk to the neighbors and ask if they would use their grill for supper, though.  🙂

Kind Stranger just made my day

This morning was a bit of a struggle–it’s always a little hard to get back into the swing of things after a long weekend.  Everyone seems distracted or slow or something.  And this morning Maddie also decided it would be fun to wake up at 5:30 this morning which didn’t help things.  Oh, and it was raining.

After we got Chloe on the bus we had to run a few errands.   On the way back home I decided a nice cup of coffee (decaf, of course) would be nice.  So we stopped into Caribou.  On an unrelated note:  I love drive-through.  I appreciate them so much more now that I have kids.  So. Much. More.    Anyway, I placed my order and waited for my turn, scrounging up enough coins in my car to have the exact amount.  I just love when I can do that.  And I got up to the window and the car in front of me had paid for my drink!  Can you believe that?  How cool!
