Writing about all the big & little things

Today is the day…

Today is the day I started looking at rental properties.

*Gulp*

This isn’t quite where we wanted to be at this point in time, but I also want to be sure we are willing to go where God’s will is for us. And at this point that means looking into finding something to rent while we wait for the right house to either drop in price or appear on the market.

So I started looking into our options.

And then I freaked out MAJORLY.

And stopped looking for now. 🙂

No worries… I know God has a plan.  So, for now I will let the search rest for the night and hope that our perfect house will appear soon.

Dende’s Home!

DSC_0015

We were able to bring Dende home last night. He is still extremely lethargic, but starting to perk up a little more. We were able to get him to eat a treat and I think he even had a sip of water this morning. Time will tell……..

Dende is in the hospital…

Tim took Dende to the emergency vet this morning and they are keeping him for the day at the pet hospital to monitor him. He hasn’t had anything to eat or drink for a day and a half, so he’s dehydrated. He’s been excessively lethargic and is pooping blood. They said they couldn’t diagnose him one way or the other with him being so dehydrated, so after the pump fluids back into him they’ll be able to figure out more. Unfortunately we are at a tough point having to balance a lot of variables: wanting to keep him around, knowing he’s getting older, already having lymphoma, money being tight and then batting with the whole “he’s just a dog” but also part of our family… They did say he has a fever so that would indicate an infection, but again we don’t know much.

We said goodbye to him this morning just in case… 🙁

Happy Birthday Josiah!

Today is Josiah’s birthday–unfortunately I don’t have any cute pictures to share with you yet because we’re going to have cupcakes when we meet to pick up Chloe tomorrow… so tune back in for pictures!

Hand Rail Saga

On Saturday we took care of the hand rail.  Ah, the hand rail…  the annoying, expensive and hopefully not too hard project.

Well, I’m happy to show you the finished product!  Schnazzy, eh?

It actually only took 2 trips to the hardware store, 1 afternoon and zero angry spouses.  🙂  It was tedious, but pretty straight forward.  And it feels good to have that project done.  And hopefully THAT will be the last project on this house.  FOR REAL this time……..

Some Summer Pictures!

We’ve already been having tons of fun this summer!  Here’s a few of our recent activities which include:  making s’mores for the first time, going to the beach, and eating “Mountain Dew Fudge” given to us as a gift.  Tomorrow we’re headed to the zoo.  I’ll be sure to take some more pictures!

Where is the time going?!

Well, look at that–it’s already been 5 days since I last posted… sheesh!  The summer sure does sneak by!

For the sake of interest and time (and because I’m a list-loving-geek!) I’m going to recap using bullets!  Yup.

  • So, here we go…
  • Bullets are awesome.
  • The kids and I got to see Nathan & Amy last week when they came through town.  It was fantastic!
  • The Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert was AWESOME.
  • We had nice seats–with a good view of the sign language interpreters.
  • I found myself watching the interpreters more than the choir.  Seriously, they’re fun to watch.
  • The best song of the night was a organ solo arrangement of “I Got Rhythm.”
  • We’ve had a lot of nasty storms roll through in the past week.  Nothing too terrible in Shakopee, but other places have really been hit hard.
  • We’ve started watching a new “family” movie each week.  Chloe LOVES it.  (Okay, okay, even though they are kid movies, I admit, I like it too… )
  • No showings for a week now.  That’s so strange.
  • Josiah is in a very independent stage right now and want to do everything in his way in his time.  Watch out if you cross him.
  • Speaking of Josiah, he climbed out of his crib yesterday for the first time.  He fell pretty hard–I’m hoping that scares him enough not to try it again.
  • We’re going to Como zoo on Friday with all the Friesen cousins (and their prospective adults.. heh!)
  • Things have been going great with Tim and his work (and all the new guys working for him).
  • I tried to fix Tim’s grill as a Father’s Day gift and I ended up breaking it instead… oops!  Don’t worry, though, I was able to re-fix it.  🙂
  • I have a new favorite cracker:  Blue Diamond Almond Nut Thins.  Yummmmmm.
  • I’ve started walking with a gal from church. It’s great.  We walk and get exercise, while pushing our little ones, while Chloe rides her bike, and we all get to be outside getting some sun.  Win, win, win!
  • I really need to carry my camera with me tomorrow to get some pictures…

Fun in the sun!

Well, it’s official–I have my first bad sunburn.  🙂  But it’s really not all bad, because it means the sun is actually out, right!?  The kids have been able to play in the sprinkler a handful of times now and Chloe is enjoying it so much more now that Josiah can run around playing with her.

In other news, we’re going to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert at the Target Center tonight.  It was a Christmas gift from the Greenhalgh’s.  I remember opening the tickets at Christmas and thinking it was SOOOO long until June 20th… hehe!  I’m very excited to go, since I’ve heard really good reviews on the choir.  Plus it’s just plain fun to get to go to a concert!

Rain, rain, go away, come again…. um, like in JULY maybe?

We have had so much rain.

So. Much. Rain.

I think it rains every day. At least 5 out of 7 days over the past month or so. I’m not kidding. It’s not always a heavy rain, sometimes it’s just an annoying mist that keeps the ground wet and makes walks soggy.. not to mention keeping Tim very wet while working. 🙂

So, I’m ready for some sunshine! I’m ready for summer! I’m ready for sandals and the beach!

Here’s to hoping we see the sun soon!

In other news we had to have the repair man out to our house today to check on our furnace–actually the FAN inside the furnace. We noticed when the air conditioning turned on (that ONE DAY a few weeks ago that was HOT) that it was making a helicopter-like sound. It didn’t sound good. So we have the service plan and the furnace fan was covered so, they came out to check on the problem.

Do you know what the problem was?

A piece of paper.

Actually it was a torn piece of children’s book that had slipped down the return vent and was flapping around in the fan.

Yup.

(Sigh)

….

Ah, life with kids. 🙂

Well, at least it was the easiest fix he had all day!
