Writing about all the big & little things

Welcome Baby Mae!

Well, Baby Mae finally decided to make her entrance yesterday evening!  I am SO EXCITED for Luke and Krista!  Here are the details (if I remember them correctly…)

8 pounds 15 ounces

21 inches long

Born 5/27/12 at 7:01 p.m.

Full head of long dark hair!

Healthy! (as far as I know)

I’m DYING to see pictures and hear any updates but I’m sure they are busy adjusting to new parenthood and everything… so pictures will just have to wait.  I wish desperately that we lived closer to them!!!!  🙂

Or did she?

Well, today I expected Chloe’s chicken pox to be a lot worse and…. it’s actually getting better.  She only had about a dozen spots and today she has perhaps a few less and the ones she has are definitely less pronounced.  So, I’m confused.  I can’t imagine that it’s not chicken pox, but it doesn’t seem to be severe enough to actually BE chicken pox.  So, I don’t know.

The Baker’s came over tonight to see if they can get it too.  I’m actually really hopeful that they will, or even Josiah, so I know for sure that she had it.   Kristen did remind me that I can have a blood test done later to see if it shows up.  So, if no one else gets it I’ll have to get her checked at her next well child visit.  🙂

In other news:  I’m on pins and needles waiting for Luke & Krista to have their baby!  Any day now!  Yippie!

Sorry, I’m not motivated recently…

I’m still working on testing my 5 new veggies, but I’ve had a highly unmotivated week. I think I’m starting to get stressed out with the end of the year stuff–setting up summer lessons, figuring out fall slots available, getting the recital in order, trying to get to end of the year concerts and musicals… And when I get stressed, I tend to eat. So, I’m going to start again tomorrow. Sorry to leave you all hanging with the veggie testing!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful Mother’s out there!  And especially to my wonderful Mom.  It was a special treat to be able to go over and visit my folks with the kiddos yesterday too!  We spent the afternoon/early evening there and Chloe got to play and play and play… Josiah had a great time swinging and then NOT taking a nap, but he was generally jolly anyway. Then we packed up and made it home, transferring sleeping kids to their beds.  🙂

And then today was a fun day of just relaxing around the house–all in all a fantastic weekend!

Here are a few highlights from the weekend:

I love being a Mom!

Bumpa and Josiah!

Chloe riding a "two-wheeler." She Loves being able to ride a "real" bicycle instead of a tricycle.

I went to a baby shower for one of my H.S. friends. I also met up with my two of my other H.S. friends and had a TON of fun catching up! (Jen, Holly and Stacy)

My amazing boys!

I love my happy boy!

Happy May!

I’m so excited for the month of May.

•   I’m excited because Baby Mae is due to arrive later this month…

•   I’m excited because the Honor’s concert is this month…

•   I’m excited because Tim’s birthday is this month (although he’s the hardest person ever to buy a gift for)…

•   I’m excited because this is the last real month of teaching before the summer…

•   And I’m excited to loose some more weight!

Yup, you guessed it.  I’m going to write about weight loss.  I know, I know, everyone’s favorite topic.  But I know when I lost weight after Chloe was born it really helped me to write about it on here because then it was fresh in my head all day long.  For those of you who were reading back then I did “Thirteen Thin Thoughts.”  Remember?  🙂  So, this is your warning.  If you don’t like reading about weight loss or food or new recipes I’m trying, then just come back in a month.  Hopefully by then I’ll have it out of my system.

So, on the docket for this month I have some exciting things planned.   Wanna know?  Alright, I’ll tell you!  These are my goals for the month…

~ 5 Days of fruits. I don’t mean that I’ll only eat fruits, but I plan to devote a whole week (well, okay 5 days) to trying fruits and new recipes for fruits.  I want to try things I don’t usually gravitate towards.  So join me in my tasty journey!

~ 5 Days of veggies.  This is the same as fruits but obviously done with veggies instead.  I already have a delicious recipe for baked breaded zucchini strips on my counter.  Mmmmm…

5 Days of “Other Stuff.”  This could include main dishes or desserts or just anything else I’m dying to try.  Sometimes recipes don’t fall nicely under a category, so this is the category they get stuck in.  I actually expect this one to extend more than just 5 days, but I’ll set my expectations low just in case.

~ try 4 new activities for exercise.  This could be as simple as running like a crazy person around the yard with Chloe.  I need to find activities that get me moving.  And if it’s something I can do with the kids, that’s even better!   Today we dusted off the bike trailer and rode around town.  It was jolly good fun.  🙂

So there you go.  Aren’t you excited?  I AM!  😀

Wreath Makeover

I decided that the “welcome wreath” hanging on my front door was badly in need of a facelift.  I put it together just after we moved in–which would be coming up on 8 years… (holy cow!  Where did that time go?!)  Every spring I pull it out, dust it off and hang it back on the front door.  But after years of coming to and from the basement storage, it was starting to look a bit worn and dated.

Cue motivational music.

So, when I was in St. Cloud yesterday Shannon and I made a trip to the craft store and I picked up a few items to update it.  I’m very pleased with the transformation.  It’s cheerful, clean and inviting, but didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
