Writing about all the big & little things
Well, it’s Monday morning and I can firmly say that the novelty of having the dogs staying with us has NOT worn off. In fact, Chloe woke up 45 min. early today just so she could get all of her morning chores done quickly so she could play with the dogs. She was practicing her piano before 7:00. That’s motivation!
Josiah is a little behind the ball on learning to ride a bike–last year it was so much easier to just have him ride in the stroller so Chloe could ride her bike and I could power walk (or jog if I was feeling really adventurous). I didn’t want to go slow enough to let him learn how to ride. Of course, I can see that all now, in hindsight… So this is the perfect time for me to be teaching him how to ride his Tricycle and training wheel bike–I’m SUPER slow these days! I waddle along next to him and he happily pedals away. And he’s picking it up really fast. I think we’ll be able to move from the tricycle to the training wheel bike very soon. Which would be awesome, because my goal is to have them both on “big” bikes by mid-summer so we can go for walks with the baby in the stroller. It will be the perfect way to let all of us get some exercise and fresh air.
So after we drop Chloe off at the bus in the morning we take a short walk and he gets to practice riding his trike. It’s a great way to start the day, enjoying these gorgeous days we’ve been having.
In other news, Sherlock and Pippi (Nana & Bumpa’s dogs) are arriving here tonight. The kids are BEYOND excited. We’ll have them while my parents are making their “tour of the eastern states” to see all the kids and grandkids. 🙂 They leave bright and early tomorrow. Hopefully they’ll have lovely driving weather and a wonderful time!
Today we start having the Nannies come again. We were able to postpone having them come for a while since Tim’s new role in his company consists of doing more bids and less manual labor at the moment–which meant that he goes in earlier and comes home earlier. But Nick is now gone for 3 weeks (for Army stuff) so Tim is jumping in to cover some of that. So, today I spent the morning cleaning the house. I tackled the bathrooms. Let me tell you, it was a lot easier to say “I’ll quick clean the bathrooms” when we only had 1.5 bathrooms! Now we have 3.5 of them! So, we trudged around the house with my basket of cleaning supplies and they are all sparkling clean again. (By the way, Mom, I really like the smell of the Melaluca Tub and Tile cleaner.)
Yesterday was such a gorgeous day. The kids played outside most of the day. It was awesome! A lady at church gave the kids some bubbles and Josiah had a ball blowing bubbles all afternoon. It was ridiculously windy yesterday so the bubbles sort of blew themselves actually… 🙂
I have lots to write about since I’ve missed posting for the last few days… sorry about that. The kids went away and I painted like crazy to get the basement done, and then I had an appointment with my midwife in there and had to have an extra ultrasound and played for a random church rehearsal one night–but more on those things later this week. For now, here are a few pictures from our Easter fun yesterday! I hope you all had a fantastic day!
I know contest is getting close because I’ve spent my entire morning responding to emails and making changes/corrections to the contest schedule. Yikes! Let the chaos begin!
This weekend is going to be full (and fun, I’m sure!) as well. We have all the cousins over for the day tomorrow, Chloe has swim practice, I’m teaching Baker’s piano, then Ryan & Steph as well as Kristen & Jer are coming over for supper (and to pick up their kids… hehe!) and then on Sunday I have another batch of volunteers coming to help work on contest folders. But the AWESOME news is that it should be warm enough for the kids to play outside! Yippie!!!
In other news I had my 24 week appointment yesterday. Nothing new or exciting to share except that I’m measuring big–three weeks bigger than I should be. Hmmmm… I asked her if it was something to be worried about–and also reminded her that I’m normally on the bigger side when I’ve been pregnant before–and she said if I measure three over again next time then I have to have another ultrasound. So, I go back in one month. We’ll see what happens then. Also, at my next appointment I get to do the oh-so-much-fun-glucose-screening. That’s the test where you have to drink this massive cup of really sweet thick “liquid” so see how my body can take on carbs and sugar. If I don’t pass then I have to go back for a 2 hour test. I passed fine with both Chloe and Josiah, so I’m not worried, but you just never know with each pregnancy. 🙂
