Adorable Video I found of Josiah

We figure he’s about 11 months in this video.  It’s so hilarious how I can still hear his laugh there in his laugh now–it just cracks me up!  I could watch this video over and over… and just think!  We’ll have another little one like this before we know it!

I have refound my favorite musical

secretcd

The Secret Garden was my favorite musical growing up.  I just adore the music–and all the arrangements–and the characters are so interesting to me.  You have a snotty girl, an Irish maid, a rugged gardener, a sickly boy, a depressed father, an overbearing uncle and a mystical outdoorsy boy.  Who wouldn’t love that mix of characters?

As a younger girl I would sing along with all the parts fantasizing about being the main girl (the snotty one as it turns out).   I had it on cd growing up.  Or, I guess it could have been cassette tape now that I think about it… Anyway, over the years, I moved on, went to college and forgot all about it.  I don’t know where the music ended up.

But at Christmas Tim bought me a speaker to hook up to my phone so now I can stream music from our Amazon account for free (or any of the cds we purchase or even upload to it).   And guess what was on there.  Yup.  The Secret Garden.   So, I’ve spent hours re-listening to it.  And I can safely say I don’t dream of being the girl anymore–now I’m the beautiful soprano (dead) wife.  🙂

It’s amazing how much more meaningful music can be at different stages in my life.  Certain songs can dig right into the soul of me.  In this case it’s the duet the depressed father sings with his, now dead, wife.  He’s agonizing about not wanting to live with out her and she patiently reminds him what is left worth living for.  It’s beautiful.  It makes me cry.  Maybe it’s because I’m pregnant… 😉

Pictures from Christmas!

Look!  I finally found my camera and even got the pictures onto my computer!  🙂

I know, I know.   Please, hold your applause.

I’m on vacation–and apparently that means I won’t be posting.

Sorry for the lack of posts.  When I go on vacation, I get VERY relaxed.  About everything.  So I haven’t really sat much at my computer recently–besides a quick check at my email.

We’re doing great here.  Chloe has been loving the time off of school.  We’ve been enjoying lots of family time and playing games and working on her piano and opening Christmas toys for them to enjoy.  I’m sure I have some pictures on my camera… if I could find it.  And then if I could just get motivated to get them off of my camera and onto my computer.

I finally sat down in my studio to work on prepping for the new year, and apparently I have more to do than I thought, because I need to spend a few more hours tomorrow working on stuff too.

But don’t worry.  Life will resume as normal on Monday and I’ll be back to the normal routine.

Christmas Recital 2014 Success!

I’m happy to announce that everything went just swimmingly at the Christmas recital.  The location turned out to be excellent–I had a lot of good feedback from many parents.  The only “hicccup” (if you can call it that) is that I’m not thrilled with how the picture at the end turned out with all the students lined up on the stage.  It’s hard to see everyone and it’s a little dark.  So, I have to see if I can figure out something for a better picture next time…

Oh!  And……. Chloe played wonderfully.  🙂  She was VERY nervous beforehand, but when it was time she marched up there like a trooper and played just fine.  I’ll have to see if I can splice the video to post here… hmmmmm….

Here are a few pictures!

Chloe’s first recital!

No news yet.

I took Chloe to the doctor today.  They took an x-ray of her belly to see if there is any blockage or anything.  No we just wait to hear back.  She didn’t have a lot of answers just yet–she did mention the possibility of constipation…  I’ll let you know.  For now we wait.

Chloe and Josiah are eagerly counting down the days until Christmas.  This is the first time Chloe has been keeping track (since she’s finally old enough) so Josiah is going along for the ride.  She’s most excited about getting to be off of school for two whole weeks!  🙂

Hey!  It snowed last night!  Yippie!

Nursery Remodel!

I don’t think I ever did post any pictures of our Nursery Remodel.  It took weeks and weeks of work, so I admit when we were finished I just walked away from the project, relieved to be done.

Here was the before picture…  also keep in mind this used to be a movie auditorium, so the floors had to be leveled first, then the walls put up and ceilings put in…

And YES. Each blade of grass was hand-painted on the wall. I made giant stencils that we used.

Having never designed a nursery before, and getting to pick literally EVERYTHING in the space… I’m quite pleased with how it turned out.
