Caught the bug.

Well, last week Wednesday I caught the fall “sick” bug.  I got progressively worse over the course of a few days so by Friday night I was miserable.  It was a sore throat that turned into congestion and basic tired/sneezy/miserableness.  But I was determined not to let that get me down this weekend!  There was fun to be had!!!  We went to the Renaissance Festival (a huge shout out to SHANNON! 😉 )  on Saturday after worship team rehearsal and then I had a women’s nite out event at church that evening.  Then on Sunday we finally decided it was time to start looking for a new front door and then I had Growth Group that evening.  But I’m happy to say that today I’m definitely on the upswing.  Which is good.  By tomorrow I bet I’ll feel pretty much back to normal.  At least that’s what I’m praying!

I’ll get back to posting soon.

Thursday Thoughts

☼  Where is August going?

☼  Jennifer brought me back some vanilla from her missions trip to the Dominican Republic and it is sooooo good.  It makes everything so much more delicious.

Which has then led to me researching how to make my own vanilla… I might do it.  Be prepared for all of your gifts from me for the next several years to be homemade vanilla.  😉

Chloe & Josiah are going to their cousin Allison’s Birthday Party on Sunday.  Chloe has asked if she could just go early and wait–since she’s so excited.  I told her that she would have to wait there for 3 more days and it didn’t seem to deter her much.  😉

On Sunday I’m going in the opposite direction down to Owattona to my friend Stacy’s Baby Shower.  Hooray for babies!

☼  Speaking of babies, did I ever mention on here that another one of my High School Friends, Jennifer, is pregnant with TWINS?

The kids and I ran errands all over the cities for 5 hours today.

But don’t worry, there were rewards to their patience… they both got new shoes and some ice cream.

A neighbor down the street got a new puppy.  It’s so cute.  It makes me want a puppy again….……………….. someday.

Chloe finally got her teacher assignment today.  It’s very exciting.  She has open house later this month.

On her own today, Chloe read a page out of a book.  She’s so excited to learn how to read she can hardly stand it.

Gearing up for more running!

I’m slowly trying to get ready for our first annual “Fritz 5K” at our family reunion at the end of August.  I admit I’ve been a bit lax (okay VERY lax) about running lately.  So, now I’m trying to get back into the routine of trying to run again.  It’s slow progress but I’m getting there…

I’ve also decided, in order to encourage myself along, that I’m going to sign up for another 5K in town.  It’s called “Boots & Boas” Doesn’t that sound fun?  In fact rumor has it they give you a boa at the end.  🙂  I figure any kind of motivation is motivation, right?

Love Never Dies

I just recently heard about the opera Love Never Dies.  Apparently it’s the sequel to Phantom of the Opera.  I just adore Phantom, so I’m starting to work my way through the music of this new one–so far I’m enjoying it.  I’m always surprised, that even though I’m musical, and know a lot of music, that there is still SO much music out there that I’ve never even heard of… 🙂  I guess it’s evidence that I need to listen to more music.

In other news I got a new armband holder for my phone so I can take it with me when I go running.  I’m really excited about it, but it’s REALLY big.  Actually it fits my phone perfectly, so it’s not any bigger than it needs to be, but it sure looks ginormous next to my old Sansa music player.  🙂  Wanna see?  Ok!

Fireworks at Valleyfair

Did you know that Valleyfair sets off fireworks every night just before they close at 10:00?

Yup.

At about 9:45 every night there are fireworks.  We can see them from our deck.

There’s your random bit of useless information for the day.  🙂

You’re welcome.

Where did the summer go?

We are halfway through the summer.

How did that happen?

I had such lofty dreams of what I was going to accomplish over the summer and now I only have 1/2 the summer left to do everything.  Well, that’s not entirely true.  I have done some things, but not nearly enough!  The thing that has taken up most of my time for the past 3 weeks has been getting the nursery remodeled for church.  I have spent more hours than I care to count painting and painting and painting, and then organizing and decorating and arranging…  But I’m happy to announce that I am finally finished.  Whew!  (More to come about this soon)

So, here we are at the end of July and I’m determined to start getting busy having fun.  🙂

Look out everyone!
