Wordless Wednesday: Snow White out for a ride

I know this is a “wordless post” but this needs some explanation… We’ve been having trouble getting Chloe to try new foods lately.  She had an epic meltdown the other day when she was asked to try a carrot.  So, in order to encourage her I let her wear this special “princess dress” after eating a carrot.   I then told her she could only wear it for a short time OR if she wanted to wear it longer she could have another carrot–and wouldn’t you know it, she decided to have another carrot.  🙂  Yippie!

Sore.

Well, I jumped back on the exercise band wagon and boy am I sore today!  It feels good to be working towards a better and healthier me again, though–even if it hurts to go up and down the stairs.  🙂

In other news, it looks like Tim will definitely be starting back to work on April 1st.  He might even start some short repairs this next week but we don’t have the nanny lined up to come until April so he has to be back home by 3:00.  It sounds like there is already a customer who would have liked them to start last week, but the road restrictions aren’t lifted yet, so they have to wait a little longer.    So we’re all enjoying his last few days of vacation!

Early (really early!) Spring

I was weeding out the side flower garden yesterday afternoon, listening to the wonderful sounds of Spring.  JD  was rolling around and babbling to the grass clumps in his hands and Chloe was eagerly running around in a short sleeved shirt asking if she could help with any and everything.  It was then that I realized it was Mother’s Day last year that I worked on weeding that same flower garden.   I had to laugh.  The weather is a month and a half ahead of schedule!  In fact, it was so warm the past couple of days that we (I know, I know, some of you will cringe at this) even turned on our air conditioning!    I’m absolutely not complaining, by any means, but it’s strange to not really have had a winter.  I am excited to be able to get outside and be more active, however.  That winter weight has really caught up to me this year!   So, here’s to enjoying a really early spring–at least while it’s still here!

Another one bites the dust

Well, Tim got it too.  He was awake all night throwing up… We’re both feeling much better now although he’s still not 100%.

I was feeling good enough to make my trip to the U of M to drop off all my supplies and hang signs and now I’m teaching for the rest of the evening.

What a week!

Not my best day…

(Be warned:  this post is a bit on the “woe-is-me” side of things….  so, you’ve been warned.  Now onto complaining!)

Got up to teach morning lessons.

Noticed I wasn’t feeling well, but ran to Goodwill with Chloe to find a shirt to wear for this weekend anyway.

15 attempts later walked out with a shirt.

Came home for lunch.  I didn’t eat since I was still feeling “off.”

Tried to take a nap.

Spent the rest of the afternoon in bed / running to the bathroom, sick.

Tim helped me cancel my lessons.  I cried because I felt so defeated.  Of all the days to get sick…

I’ve only had to cancel lessons 1 time in 12 years of teaching for being sick.   Now that makes 2.

I’m feeling a little better now.  I hope I can sleep off whatever this is!

Chloe’s off to a party

This morning Tim took Chloe over to the Baker’s house so she could spend the night and go to Kailynn’s Birthday party tomorrow.  She was beyond excited to go.  This morning we got her all packed and wrapped her special present that she helped pick out at the store for Kailynn.  She finally got to use her new suitcase even (which Tim commented that I was probably more excited about than she was… haha!)

Ready to go!

After they left Josiah and I ran errands around town before coming home and working on contest stuff for the next 4 hours.  It was delightfully quiet as he napped since Tim and Chloe were gone.  I enjoyed my coffee and quiet as I wrapped up more loose ends of contest stuff.  One week from today I’ll be dropping everything off at the U of M!  ONE WEEK PEOPLE!  🙂

Insert Chaos Here.

Yup, things have hit chaotic finally.  The good news is that contest is less than 2 weeks away.  Today was bad because everyone (or a lot of people at least) received their contest information.  So now the floodgates of time change requests and day change requests and misspellings and wrong addresses and questions about everything are opened.  I received 28 emails and 7 phone calls about contest just today.  Can you believe that?  Yikes!

Now I’m waiting on pins and needles for the “massive snow storm” we were supposed to get tonight.  It looks like we’re in for a “massive disappointment” right now… but we’ll see how things look tomorrow morning.  🙂  Right now it’s raining.  And it’s been raining for the past 4 or 5 hours…

Mozart Requiem

I’ve been working on a piano duet with my Mom: a Mozart Requiem.  It’s for a college choir in Rice Lake, WI (right Mom?).  It’s a single piano 4 hands duet.  It’s 62 pages long (so my part is only 31) and a full hour of playing.

We had our first practice yesterday and I’m pleased to say it went really, really well.  I was pretty stressed out about it all day wondering if it would fit together… especially since I didn’t get to spend a lot of time practicing this past week… but it went fine.  And was a lot of fun, even!  I still have a bit of work to do, but our next practice isn’t until March 17th and the performance isn’t until the end of March, so if I keep chipping away at it, I should be fine.  It will be a challenge to find time to fit in practicing over the next 2 weeks, with Contest approaching, but even if I can just find 10-15 min. at a time it will help.

For those of you who saw my wordless Wednesday post from this past week–this is what a couple of my pages of music look like that we’re playing.  Now you can see why Mom and I got such a kick out of the picture!  🙂
