Writing about all the big & little things
Madison is officially 3 months old. Time flies, eh? She is a delightfully relaxed baby. Here are a few tidbits of information about her at 3 months old:
Maddie had a wonderful check-up on Friday. She’s healthy and growing, but that’s pretty obvious. We have a very slight bit of eczema to watch and be more careful about putting lotion on, but nothing serious. She is sleeping a solid 8 hours a night now and is in 3-6 month clothes (but more towards the 6 month size). The most exciting thing for me, though, is that she doesn’t need a nuk. She can go to sleep just fine without one but will take a one if she’s hungry too early or just fussy for no reason–so I’m glad we can use it when needed, but that she’s not dependent on them like Josiah was.
(On a side note, the pictures side by side at the top make it look like Maddie doesn’t have any legs… I swear she really does! I’m guessing the 2 months pictures from the others were taken further into two months… )
Now for the side by side comparison of all three kids at their 2 month appointments:
Weight | Height | Head | |
Chloe | 14# 5 oz | 24.50” | 15.5” |
Josiah | 14# 15 oz | 24.75” | 16.0” |
Madison | 14# 7oz | 24.75” | 15.25” |
I’ve created a new tab on the side of the page here titled “Adventures in Odyssey.” It’s pretty much self explanatory, but I wanted to make sure I told you about it. You can keep it in the back of your mind for later…
In other news Maddie is officially 2 months old! We have her check-up this afternoon. I’m excited to see how she compares to the other two in size/weight. She seems to be growing leaps and bounds daily. We bought her an adorable new sleep sack a couple of weeks ago and I remember saying it was a bit big, but that was ok because she would grow into it… and now she’s almost touching the bottom of it! Yowza!
I’ve had 3 of the 4 nannies come and do “trial runs” with the kids. Mostly to show them Maddie and talk them through her schedule. It’s much easier to do that now than to try and do it all on their first day here–especially if I’m trying to teach. They’ve all done great. And Maddie is proving to be just as scheduled as the other two, so that will make everyone’s lives much easier.
I accidentally missed my wordless Wednesday yesterday… whooops! Oh, and I would like to wish a belated Happy Birthday to my Dad! I really should have posted a picture of him yesterday and then I would have remembered both things… ah, well. In hind sight…
Today I head up to St. Cloud to pick up Chloe from camp. I’m excited to hear how it all went and if she enjoyed it. Josiah has missed having her around more than I expected. He doesn’t like going to bed by himself–which strikes me as humorous seeing as he only started sharing a room with her 2 months ago. But he really likes sharing a room. In fact, he’s asked if someday he can share a room with Maddie now too. 🙂
Before I go, here’s a picture of Maddie doing some tummy time last night. She’s getting such a strong neck, I love it!
Guess who’s growing like a champ?
That’s right–our little Maddie girl! We weighed her on our scale the other day and she’s over 11 pounds now. She is also smiling AT people once in a while now. It’s so fun to see her starting to track things with her eyes and notice people. She’s not quite sleeping through the night yet, but she’s stretching the middle of the night feeding longer and longer. I’m hopeful it will only be another week or two. She’s also eating between 3.5 and 5.5 ounces now. Yikes! Now wonder she’s growing so well, eh? But I checked back and compared our other kids and that’s about what they were eating too, so it’s normal (for us).
She has baby acne pretty bad, although it’s been getting better over the past week. I don’t remember the other two having it quite so bad. It clears up on its own over time, so I just need to be patient.
Also, she LOVES sleeping outside. If we’re having a rough day, all I need to do is go for a walk and she instantly falls asleep. I think it’s because it’s so warm outside.
