That made me smile! #5

Happy (late) Mother’s Day!

God has blessed me with two wonderful children–some days I forget how wonderful they are.  Yesterday we enjoyed some time at the park and I got a couple of cute pictures.

These make me smile.

I’ve decided that it’s time to start posting move positive things.  So, I’m launching into a few days (I’m not sure at the moment how long this will last) of pictures of things that made me smile today.

So…. THIS made me smile today:

This picture has multiple things that make me smile:  1.Strawberries  2. Awesome bag holder thingy (that makes my life SOOO much easier)  3. An adorable daughter

Random Pictures

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted any pictures–and I discovered that it’s also been a long time since I’ve actually TAKEN any pictures… but I found the camera and pulled off everything from the last month or so.  I only had a couple, so here they are!

Lots to do, but little motivation left tonight

I have gobs and gobs of things I need to be doing right now but my motivation (and thus my self-control to stop snacking!)  is waning greatly.  Maybe I should just go to bed and hope to wake up more motivated in the  morning… 🙂

So instead I’ll tell you some random tidbits of information again:

  • We have a professional stager coming to look at our house next week to give us a list of things to do.  That makes me feel good knowing someone is going to help… our realtor is actually paying for it.  I think that’s really smart.  Staged houses sell so much faster.  And in our case, we’re just hoping it sells period!
  • This might be the first week since I started this my weight loss endeavor on January 1st that I won’t lose any weight.  That bums me out.  But it also makes me recheck my eating choices and recommit to why I’m doing this.  I always knew this would be a really tough time of year for me, so I just want to keep hanging on…
  • My goal is to pack a box a day.  So far so good.  Well, it actually more like, 2 boxes every other day, but still the ratio is the same.  🙂
  • Chloe is super bummed that Kailynn gets to turn 5 before her.  Then I pointed out that Chloe would be 4 AND A HALF and Kailynn wouldn’t, and that seemed to make her happy.  Hehe!
  • Did I mention that we enrolled Chloe in preschool for this Fall?  Yup.  She’s going to Mount Olive Lutheran Preschool here in Shakopee.  We have a few church friends who have kids currently enrolled and they had rave reviews.  That will be the compromise of keeping Chloe back until next fall to enter Kindergarten… she just misses the cut off to go into Kindergarten this year and we’re fine with her waiting and then being the oldest in her class.  But we really wanted to get her in some type of classroom setting this next year.  We visited last week to drop off our application and she was having so much fun I practically had to pick her up and carry her out in order to get her to leave!  🙂

Pretty {Purple} Smoothie

This week I ran out of spinach (I hate when that happens!) so I decided to make a fruit smoothie with protein powder instead of my regular peanut butter smoothie.  It’s not all bad–I really am getting tired of the peanut butter taste.  Did you think that could ever happen?!  Get tired of peanut butter? Never!  Well, actually yes…

So I found I had frozen strawberries and blueberries and then I mixed in a banana and vanilla protein powder a little milk and {voila!} a delicious and strikingly beautiful smoothie!

See?

I let Chloe have some too and she thought it was extremely tasty as well!  🙂  She was so intent on getting every last drop out of the cup that I didn’t notice what a mess she was creating all over her face.  Finally I walked back into the dining room as I was saying “Did you like it Chloe?” and she responded “Yum!  It’s delicious!” and her face sure confirmed that!

Remember this?

I was looking back through old pictures and I ran across this:

new cast (4)

I had completely forgotten about this!  I had blocked out those days–especially having to bathe her with a big plastic bag over her arm!  Haha!  But more importantly, she seems so young to me now.  Josiah is rounding up toward 2 years old which is exactly when this happened to her, and he seems so tiny to break any bones.  Yikes!  But it happened.  Even if I can’t remember it, I have tons of pictures to keep it locked in our memories.  She doesn’t remember it either…which is probably better.  And it really didn’t hamper her spirits at all!

What’s wrong with this picture?

Tiny Pants

Chloe put on this outfit yesterday. Then she walked downstairs…

Tim: “Hmmm… something looks funny.  Erica, can you look at Chloe’s outfit?”

Me: “Bah-Ha-HA-HA!!! Chloe, those are JOSIAH’S pants!”

Tim: “I wondered why she had capris out in the middle of the winter!”

Our new gym routine

Chloe and I have started “going to the gym.” I decided it was time for both of us to expend some energy–me to do something good for myself (and hopefully work towards loosing weight) and Chloe because she needs to work off some energy.  She is starting to act out now that it’s winter and has so much energy bursting out of her.  And since she doesn’t generally like playing alone she doesn’t want to run around in the yard…

So we’ve started to go to the track at the community center.  I’m slowly starting to walk less and jog more, but it’s going to take me a long time to be able to jog consistently.  But hey, I’m moving again.  And that’s what matters.

Chloe walks around the track with me and then she gets to take a break on the bench while I jog for a little bit, then she jogs along with me for a little bit until she gets too tired.  It’s good for her–plus it makes the time go faster for me.  🙂

Of course, this whole outing is going to take a little patience and fine tuning.  It’s going to take a bit for her to really understand that she needs to stay out of the way when she’s there with me… and that she can’t just play and goof off.  Sometimes she’s awesome and other days it’s a definite struggle.  Most of the time it’s older people just walking on the track so they don’t mind her boisterous activity, but there are other days when I can tell the “serious” runners get a slightly annoyed.

But even though it’s taking work, I still think the activity as a whole is good for both of us.  I’m very hopeful that we can continue our gym outings together and that she will enjoy being able to really stretch those legs and run off some energy!
