Writing about all the big & little things

Sunday

Yup.  Still here.

I realized I have to write every day until the baby comes just to help everyone know.  Which is fine.  🙂

It was hot today.  Hot and muggy.  Yuck.

Tomorrow morning we’re going to the beach again with the Baker’s.  It should be fun.

I’ve also decided to set up my scrapbooking stuff in my studio for a while so I can hopefully make some headway on Chloe’s baby book (I know, the shame of not having hers done yet!!!!) before baby #2 comes along.  I’m going to treat this week as if the baby isn’t going to come until Friday or next weekend–especially since I was late with Chloe.

Congested with a side of PUPPS???

Well, I seem to have developed a nasty cold over the weekend.  I’ve been progressively getting worse every day… all the classic annoying symptoms:  completely congested, drippy nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, headache, and basic overall exhaustion.  Not exactly what I wanted to be dealing with right now.  And the worst part is that I can’t take any real medicine for it.  If I’m still this miserable by Friday I’ll ask my midwife what I can do about it…

And if that wasn’t enough, I noticed my hands and neck started itching again yesterday.  I can’t see any large spots of PUPPS yet but I also can’t imagine what else it could be.  Bummer.  I was really hoping it wasn’t going to come back anymore, although I knew it was always a possibility.  Either way, I’m on the home stretch now:  only 10 days until my due date.  I can make it.  I can make it!

But enough of my complaining.  Let’s talk about something else.  Like the dessert I made yesterday.  It was from the Pampered Chef cookbook that I borrowed from my Mom.  I had Tim look through all the recipes and that was one of the desserts that looked appealing to him so I thought I would try it.  The directions were a bit confusing so I accidentally made it in a loaf pan instead of a flat pan the first time so Tim had to go back to the store and buy more pound cake mix.   (What a wonderful man.)  So by the time I figured everything out and re-baked the cake it was late.  The directions told me to let it cool for at least 1 hour before enjoying, but it was already so late we just ate it.   Today I had another slice and I must say it is much better cold, so I know why they say to let it chill.  Tim and I also agree that when I make it again we’ll only use strawberries on top.  The blueberries, while adding a wonderful red/white/blue contrast, didn’t compliment the cake like we preferred.  The strawberries, on the other hand, were wonderfully sweet and fresh.    It was a bit labor-intensive to assemble, but it was also my first attempt, so I’m sure I could do it a lot faster next time.  🙂

Here’s an up close picture to show the delicious layers.  Yum.

Sunday Fun

Today was great.  After church Tim helped me with the flower garden then we worked a little around the house and Chloe played outside.  It was a beautiful day (which is nice after so many rainy days in a row).

I also sat down and watched the movie “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock which I thought was really cute.

So now it’s time for bed.  I’m excited (and a little nervous) to go to my very first chiropractic appointment tomorrow afternoon… I’ll let you know how it goes!

Purchase, PUPPS, pain & Procrastinating

Yesterday we broke down and bought a new mower.  It’s awesome.  I’m extremely excited about it–which is funny.  Why be so excited over a piece of machinery?  I suppose because I honestly like mowing and I do most of the mowing so this is going to make my life a lot easier.  We looked a few different models and finally settled on a craftsman small rear wheel mower (almost exactly like our old one: with a back bag attachment and side blowing or mulch capabilities) but this one has a more ergonomic handle and a special attachment area to hook up a hose so you can clean it out.  Tim got it all set up after we got home last night and I mowed a small section of the lawn again (even though I just mowed on Friday!) just so I could try it out.  🙂

Here’s a picture of it–already dirty after my first mowing!

The PUPPS are slowly but surely staring to spread on my body.  It seems to be increasingly worse with each passing day–but so far it’s not nearly as bad as it was before.  Of course, I’ve only had it for a week and a half.  I’m sure over the course of time things will progress, but so far I’m finding it’s manageable with a few anti-itch creams.  I have had to alter quite a bit of my wardrobe however, b/c I can’t have anything pressing against my belly since it triggers the itching.  I know, I know, this is probably more that you really wanted to know, but it’s on my mind a lot lately…

And speaking of more than you wanted to know… I’ve been in a lot of pain lately with my hips and low belly.  The best way I can think of to describe it would be intense pressure–but pushing out and not down.  And it seems to be directly linked to my left leg so walking hurts quite a bit.  Almost like my left hip is out of socket.  Today was especially bad, to the point where I couldn’t help with tear down at church.  And on the way to the car I pretty much hobbled–I told Tim that I might need a cane soon!  So, I decided after church to just take a nap so I would be lying down.  And it seemed to work pretty well, b/c after my nap it felt much better.  I suppose I need to try and take it easy, but it’s so hard when my will to accomplish things and my ability to actually do them don’t match.   Only 47 days until my due date…

I’m sitting here writing this post when I should really be working on recital programs.  That’s where the procrastination comes in.  It’s a daunting task to input everyone’s information/song/name/composer and then pick a recital order for two separate recitals.  But I really need to get it done today so I’m not scrambling by the end of the week.  I know I’ll be incredibly thankful when I’m done.  Only 5 more days of teaching until my summer schedule starts!
