Green Smoothie Fanatics

Green Smoothie snack (5)

I made green smoothies the other weekend when Stacy came up to visit and the kids saw me making them–I hadn’t realized that it had been so long since I made them last.  I wasn’t in a very “health conscious” mood when we lived in the rental house and then I just got out of the habit of making sure I have spinach on hand… so months have gone by with no smoothies.

Well, they were ecstatic to have them again.  So for snack this morning I surprised them with another green smoothie.  Let me tell you, you would think I was giving them frosting from a can, they love it so much.  😉

It makes me happy.

It’s a bird… It’s a plane… No! It’s VACUUM BOY!!!

Watch out dirty floors–Vacuum Boy is on his way!

Josiah continues to amuse me daily.  This week he was insistent on helping me vacuum.  He just cracks me up–my little helper.

And speaking of cracking me up… the other day he went up to his room all by himself after breakfast and I started to wonder what he could be doing up there.  So I walked up to find him just like this!

Ready in Daddy's Boots

Trampoline!

With the cold days and Tim needing to keep the kids quiet while I teach, there has been an abundance of ENERGY that has been floating around the house needing to be worked out.  Poor Chloe and Josiah just can’t seem to get enough of their energy out which then results in getting in trouble or rough-housing and hurting the other person… you get the idea.  We had hashed around ideas of what they could do, and an indoor trampoline came up.  We looked at the stores around here but none of them had any in the stores, so we had resigned ourselves to the idea of having to start searching online for one.

But then on Saturday, when Tim was up in St. Cloud helping work on his Mom’s house for the day, she said we could borrow hers!  She has a small exercise trampoline that we thought would work perfectly for the kids to just release some steam on.  And boy were we right!

You should have seen their faces as Tim rolled it in through the door on Saturday night–it was a chorus of “oooooh’s” and “aaaaaahhhh’s!” and squeals of delight.  Then then proceeded to jump on it for the next hour straight before bed.

Here’s a video we took of Josiah jumping on it for the first time.  The quality is poor because I took the video on my camera and he’s shirtless because we just finished supper and he had spilled something all over it… we were just about to change them into jammies when Tim rolled it through the door.

Playing in the snow!

We were supposed to get a ton of snow last night but it didn’t actually start snowing until about 5 this morning and it’s still snowing now.  It was a bit disappointing to wake up and not see the expected mountain of snow outside, but it’s still very beautiful.  And the most important detail here is that it’s NOT beastly cold!  It’s actually quite pleasant.  In fact Tim is out right now with his snowblower driving around town clearing driveways as I type this.

So, the kids were able to put on their snowpants and grab their shovels and go outside for a while–they really enjoyed it.

Happy to be outside again!

Happy to be outside again!

Josiah (2.5 years old)

Here are some interesting things about Josiah right now:

DSC_0015

► He says “huh?” ALL. THE. TIME.  It’s like a reflex word.

► He is heavy.  Or should I say “solid.”  Either way, he’s a lot to pick up.

► He loves to sing the tuba part in the introduction to Veggie Tales

► He always gives Pastor John “knuckles” at church when he sees him.

► His favorite thing is his Tiger’s tail.

► He has to have a nuk to go to sleep, but knows that he can only have it in his bed.  Often times if we can’t find him, he’ll be lying in his bed holding his tiger and sucking on his nuk.

cheezy smiile

► When he gets out of bed he literally spits his nuk out as far as he can.

► He loves snuggling with Tim when he wakes up.  No one else will do.

► He hums almost as much as Chloe… especially when he eats.

► He is VERY excited that he can finally reach light switches, so he’s constantly turning lights on and off.

► He is in love with Pete the Cat books right now.

► He likes to put stickers on his nose.

► He enjoys playing puppy, and pretending to lick things.

► When it’s time for bed he always says, “Snuggle Mama?”  or  “Snuggle Daddy?”

► He loves it when I blow my hair into his face.

► He would drink an endless amount of milk if we would let him.

► For some reason he thinks the Superman logo stands for Lightning McQueen from Cars.

► He wants paper on the piano whenever he plays the piano.

► He likes to play fruit ninja on Tim’s phone.

► One of his favorite activities to help me do is refill the coffee carousel.

► At church he is the pied piper–kids follow him wherever he goes.

► His favorite thing to eat is McDonalds.

► He can give the best hugs and snuggles ever if he wants to.

► Whenever he cleans he has to sing the “clean-up song”

► He loves to play with the foosball table.  He doesn’t even care if no one will play with him.

► He has learned how to go down the stairs REALLY FAST on his belly.  I’m surprised he doesn’t get rug-burn…

► He doesn’t like to eat his veggies.

Gifts from Greenhalgh's (6)

► He will run around and say “I so excited!” if he gets to watch a show.

► He calls the movie Kung Fu Panda, “Kung Foh, Pan Doh”

► He likes to sing the alphabet song and Good Morning God.

► Every morning when he sees Chloe for the first time, it’s like he hasn’t seen her in ages.  He yells, “It’s CHLOE!”

Our new pet Dinosaur.

A family at church came up to us on Sunday and said that they had something for us in the back of their van.  We were perplexed.  She sent her teenage sons to the car to get it…

and then came squeals of delight when they appeared again.

Our new pet!

Yes, folks, it’s a giant Dinosaur.  Complete with blinking eyes, moving head, wagging tail, and “raaaaring!”  It’s pretty cute if I do say so myself.  And the kids just adore it.  Well, actually Josiah was afraid of it for a while (and I don’t blame him one bit) but now he really likes it.  I did a little searching and it appears that his name is actually “Kota the Triceritops.” Before we knew that Chloe had determined that her name should be Lilly.  🙂

"Lilly" I mean, doesn't she just scream "Lilly" to you? ;)

Never a dull moment around here folks.

Oh, and I should add–the family that gave it to us got it from another friend who was going to throw it out.  I know, right?  Throw it out?!  An awesome toy like this?  Sheesh…
