Jen and I went to see the Newsies on Saturday at the Orpheum Theater! We saw it was coming a while back and ordered tickets months ago. I loved the movie growing up so I was curious how it would compare. It was definitely different, with MUCH more music than the original (looking back the movie only had like 4-5 songs…) but just as much wonderful dancing. The biggest difference was that the newspaper reporter was a woman. I actually didn’t care for her character at all. She was the one negative for me in the musical–found her abrasive. Not quite the quality you want for a main character… 😉 But otherwise it was delightful. It’s always fun to go to a really good musical!
Tim stayed home with the kids. Maddie had been a under the weather the past couple of days and had been running a fever. She was apparently REALLY unhappy while I was gone, and by the time I got home her fever had spiked to almost 104 even with medicine. So, I got back in the van and drove her to Urgent Care. We were almost positive that it was an ear infection, but isn’t anything terribly serious, but I also knew the next day was a Sunday so she would have to wait another day before being able to get on medicine. So off we went. She was actually a peach while we were there and we were in and out within an hour. And sure enough, it was an ear infection so we got her started on amoxicillin and by the end of the next day she was acting almost 100% better.
So, that is also why we were able to do so much fun Valentine’s stuff on Sunday. We had to stay home from church. I’m sure you thought to yourself, how did she get all that stuff done around church? 😉 Now you know.
Such a fun weekend. I’m really looking forward to being in a place where there is professional entertainment somewhere nearby. Or sort-of professional, anyway!
