Writing about all the big & little things

More details for Kylene :)

So our party on Sunday went a little like this…

Everyone arrived around 3:00.   I had originally anticipated having people here for lunch as well, so I had accidentally planned two meals when I really only needed one.  The one we ended up scratching was enchiladas, which was fine because it’s a more labor intensive meal anyway.   After everyone arrived we sat around letting the kiddos play with the toys and just sitting around talking.

Around 4:00 we decided to start opening gifts which meant first digging through the pile and helping the kids divvy up the gifts to the correct person.  It was fun to watch.  Then the gift unwrapping frenzy began!  We all helped the kids unwrap their gifts (while Tim took pictures) and helped them get some toys set up.  Which takes a long time sometimes–some of those toys are so tightly stored in their boxes that it’s nearly impossible to get them out without totally destroying the boxes.  It’s a little ridiculous… Anyway, after the kids finished and were happily playing with some of their toys the rest of us opened ours.  The most exciting was watching Mom unwrap her digital frame and Dad unwrap his Wii.  🙂

Then we decided to head upstairs and set up the super cool tent that Mom bought for Chloe (and the Fritz kids got one too) in her room.  It took us a while to figure out how it should work–why were the directions so confusing?  Sheesh!  Anyway, we got it set up and the kids enjoyed playing in and out and around it while Amy, Mom and I chatted some more.

By then it was time to start on supper which was Ranch Burgers.  Mom had brought over a fresh batch of sweet buns for us to use (so yummy!).  So for supper (and snacking) we had: Ranch Burgers, cheese ball & crackers, salsa salad & chips, banana bread w/ chocolate chips, brownie/health trifle, some cookies and warm cider.  Sounds yummy, huh?  🙂  It really was!

And before you knew it, it was time to start wrapping up.  But before Mom left we had a chance to sit down and she showed me all of the plans for the new house–it’s very cool, I’m super excited–and Dad watched Mythbusters with Tim & Chloe.  It was a very enjoyable time with family.

See, Kylene, don’t you feel like you were here?  😉

Yup, hopefully starting this summer (on the property they already own).

Yea! Sounds like it was a fantastic time! Did the apron go over okay with Chloe? Did the popcorn make it okay? I bet Mom and Dad were really surprised at their presents! 🙂 Oh, was Dad confused by the knot? 🙂

    Thanks for the recap!
