A Chilly Sunday Working on Contest Stuff

I’ve been working on getting the mailings in order for the State Contest Preliminaries all afternoon. Which means I’ve been sitting in my studio… freezing.  I really need to get to the hardware store and pick up some plastic to cover the windows.  I meant to do it over Christmas break and totally forgot.   But the good news is I’ve made significant headway on the mailings and I’m feeling pretty organized.  Yay!

It has been so cold lately I don’t even like going outside.  When it’s windy it’s just plain painful–this is not the part of winter that I like.  I’m fine with the snow and with moderate cold, but not pain.  I veto pain.  It makes me worry about all of those kids who have to walk to school when it’s below zero…

I hope our hot tub doesn’t go on the fritz.  It always seems to get a flow error on the coldest days possible–then poor Tim has to go out and fix it in the frigid weather.

Before I go, here’s a random picture (well, actually 2 pictures) to leave you with.  Jen bought Chloe a really cool rocking giraffe for Christmas that is just the right size for her–fun!  Oh, and notice her cheesy smile… crazy girl.

    So adorable!

I’ve been eying this thing for a while, but haven’t decided it would actually be worth the money.

Would be nice and toasty in your studio, though. 🙂

Oil filled? Really? That’s so interesting… I actually do have a small portable heater (not nearly as cute as that one!), but I always hate using it because I’m sure it uses a lot of energy. And sometimes I just don’t realize how cold I am until my fingers are icicles and then I realize I should just turn on the heater. And the other problem with it is that if I leave it on, then the room gets too warm… where’s my happy medium? 🙂

My room heater has a dial so it turns itself off when it gets warm. It also rotates. I like it a lot. I’m not sure what brand it is, but I’ll check for you when I get home tonight.

The pictures of Chloe are funny, because I was just remarking what a natural smile she has and now she is into the cheesy smile stage. I suppose it was inevitable – everyone seems to go through that. Then you have to try to catch her when she doesn’t know you are taking a picture, which makes picture taking a whole lot harder!

I can’t believe how long her hair is getting.

    Love,
    Mom

Yeah, the one I linked actually has a thermostat and a timer and everything, so you can set it to only run when it’s such’n’such a temperature and only between such’n’such hours. So, I envisioned using it in Justin’s office during the day so we don’t have to heat the rest of the house, and then at night, rolling it into the bathroom so it’ll turn on about 30 minutes before I get out of bed so the bathroom is nice and toasty before I get in there.

But alas, alark, it’s like $50 bucks and we’d rather just be cold and bundle up under blankets. But you know there were a couple days when the heat didn’t work in the house and we were SERIOUSLY tempted. 🙂
