It was quite a week for us in the world of musicians at our church…
Monday morning our Worship Leader quit.
Tuesday our pastor, John, communicated to everyone involved in the worship team and Tim stepped in to help pull things together.
Wednesday Tim and John went to see a potential band to help us out as we start looking for a replacement.
Thursday Tim met with the other leaders of the church to collaborate and decide how to move forward.
Saturday we met for rehearsal without really knowing what was going to happen and half the band was missing.
Today… it all came together! We met bright and early(with the whole band finally), and everything started to mesh wonderfully. I’m so proud of the musicians I work with and how everyone stepped it up a notch. I know this may not seem like a big deal to most of you, but as two of the main musicians in our church it’s pretty monumental here. Plus this means that Tim has temporarily stepped into the role of “leader” for now since he’s been asked to do it in the past.
But most importantly, I think today reassured all of us that we can do this. It’s exciting to work with a group of people who want the same standard of excellence and understand the need to pull a little more weight for now. I’m anxious to see who God will bring into our church next as we continue on this journey!
Good job, both of you. I think Tim would make a great worship leader. He has the right heart.
Well done!
Hey, do you remember back when I was living in Toccoa and the worship pastor at my church joined the army and left? Yeah, and me and one other girl from the choir (that’s right — choir) had to step up and lead the music. Except the worship pastor was also the PIANO PLAYER. So we had to sing songs that we had MIDI tracks to go with it. MIDI. As in, the same type of music that’s on Mario Bros and Zelda.
It was terrible.
I’m so glad you guys have such a great bunch of qualified musicians! I’m sure you’re going to do GREAT!!
Oh–I had forgotten all about that Kylene! You’re right, I remember hearing about that… THAT was awful. 🙂 But you’re such a trooper and made it through!
