It’s only my second day off and I’m already exhausted.

Yesterday we were up like normal and then had to quick clean up (the-massive-mess-we-created-after-just-tossing-everything-from-the-recital-everywhere-and-vegging-out-the-rest-of-the-night) the house before a gal from church stopped by to work on some songs for the Christmas Eve service.  While the kids took a nap, Tim had to run to the hardware store to pick up the final supplies for our project for today (more on that in a bit) and I worked on editing pictures from our recital day.  Then we had a “dinner date” with 2 couples from church.  We had tried to get together with them a couple weeks ago, but since I’m usually only available on weekends it was tricky to find a time that worked with everyone.  So we took advantage of being able to go out to eat on a weeknight by heading to the Chinese buffet!  🙂  We had a fantastic time with them (and their 3 kids who are all close to Chloe’s age)–laughing and enjoying the all you can eat buffet.    Well, we all enjoyed the buffet except one of the guys who couldn’t actually eat anything since he’s allergic to gluten… I felt so bad.  But he’s dealt with it his whole life so he’s more or less used to it.

Today we worked on the project that I’ve been looking forward to for (literally) 5 years.

Drum roll please…..

We tiled our kitchen back-splash!

That’s right!  I am soooooo excited.  I’ve taken a couple of in-process pictures but I’ll post them when it’s totally done.  That way you can see the finished product.  We’ve put up all the glass tile, but the mortar needs 24 hours to harden before we can grout, so we’ll be finishing it tomorrow afternoon (during the kids naps).  I think it’s absolutely gorgeous and makes the room look so different.  I can’t wait to show everyone when you come for Christmas!!!

On the docket for tomorrow:  go through the kids clothes… weeding out all the stuff that is too small and bringing in stuff that actually fits!  I expect that process to take me a LONG time…  And if I still have motivation/time left I’m going to attempt to make a larger sleep sack for JD to sleep in made out of polar fleece. He loves sleeping in his sleep sacks because they keep him warmer–especially now that he’s discovered his feet and keeps kicking off his blanket.  🙂
