Writing about all the big & little things

Whirlwind Week getting ready for our Texas Trip!

Here was our chain link countdown when we started...

We finally made it! This was the big moment of getting to take off the last chain link! (And now that you've seen the picture above you can see why it was a big deal--it was SO LONG!)

I’m sorry I haven’t had time to post over the past couple of days.  I was teaching on Monday and Tuesday and then I spent all of yesterday getting everything packed and ready for our Texas Trip.  Chloe headed out this morning with the Baker family (plus Jen) but we don’t fly out with Josiah until Saturday.  Kristen offered to take our luggage in their van with them so we don’t have to pay to check a bag–which is awesome!  However, that meant I had to get us packed yesterday, keeping in mind that we’re still HERE for 2 1/2 more days… so it was a bit tricky trying to figure out what to send and what to keep and what we would need in our carry-on.   But everything is squared away and they are off!

Here's the picture Kristen posted of the kids all packed in and ready to go! Chloe is going to have a GREAT time driving with all her cousins.

So, now it’s just Josiah and me.  No Dende.  No Chloe.  No Tim.

It’s so quiet…

I have tons of stuff I hope to get done over the next two days, but this morning I enjoyed the spontaneity of being able to just hop in the car and run to target.  We quietly wandered around window shopping and then found him some nice sandals for the trip and then I splurged at a stop at Caribou.  (Yummmm).  Then we came home and went for a pleasant walk around the block (to try out his new sandals).  It was great.  It’s so fun to just have him alone for a while.

He was more interested in chewing on his sippy cup than letting me take a picture... but here is showing off one of his new birthday outfits!

I so often get caught up in the craziness of life and the whirl-wind of an always talking/active 3 year old and constantly checking that they are playing nicely together that I can overlook Josiah and his cute nuances of the stage he is at right now.  This will be a fun couple of days–but I’ll be happy to see my little girl again by Saturday!  🙂

She looks just a tad bit worried. As can be expected. Such an adventure for her!

I remember loving those alone times at first. But then I would start missing you all after a day or so. I like like the way it is “supposed to be” even if it is more hectic.
