Writing about all the big & little things

And then… I got a nasty cold!

I was just celebrating a couple of days ago that the sickness streak had made its way through and everyone was on the mend… why would I jinx myself like that? Grrr…

Anyway yesterday I woke up with a terrible head cold. Nothing serious. Just severe head congestion, runny nose, sneezing, etc. Oh, and I SOUND hilarious. Some of my students commented… haha!

I’m seriously considering a neti pot… any thoughts?

Just make sure to use distilled water. That whole problem with my ears, etc. last year started with me using the neti pot. It is difficult to use correctly (for me, anyway), and I must have sent some infection back into my ear canals. But, on the positive side, it is a great feeling when you get all that crud washed out of your sinuses. It doesn’t last long and it is back, but then you can do it again!

I love my neti pot. It does take some getting used to it. Justin tried it a couple times and absolutely hated it. So give it a try (make sure to use the right stuff in it: distilled water and neti salts) and if you don’t like it, then that’s okay.

It won’t completely clear up your cold, but it’ll wash out some of the gunk up in there for a while. Unfortunately, your body will keep on producing snot. But at least the crusty stuff will have been washed out.

The temperature and salinity of the water should be like tears. So nearly the same temperature as the inside of your nose and the saltiness of tears. This will help it be more comfortable.

    Good luck!
