Caught!

Today the kids and I were out for a walk/jog and a police man pulled over next to us.  He got out of his car and asked if he could speak to us.

After my momentary panic, I said, sure.  🙂

He smiled and walked up with a paper in this hand.   It turns out he actually wanted to talk to Chloe…

He told her that since she was practicing good safety and wearing her helmet as she rode her bike, he wanted to present her with a special coupon to get a free ice cream cone from DQ!  She was stunned and then thrilled.  And I’m pleased to say that through her surprise she still practiced good manners and thanked him before he headed back to her car.

It’s part of a new promotion the city is doing:  “Caught being good.”   Isn’t that fun?  And I’m pretty sure that ensured that Chloe won’t be complaining about wearing her helmet anymore!

The whole rest of trip home she talked about how she wants to be a police officer when she grows up and then she can give kids free things…
