Our church is just finishing phase one of our remodeling project. As you probably are aware, our church bought a nearby movie theater as our building. While that works wonderfully for our services, it leaves the kids area a bit lacking. It’s hard to have toddlers and kids running around on tiered floors having Sunday school every week. So, this first phase included leveling three theaters from tiered floors: one for kids, one for teens and one for the offices.
That’s where my part starts. I’m currently in charge of the nursery area. So that means I now have a blank slate area–an area to paint/decorate/create all from scratch. Yikes! The possibilities are endless and I admit it took me weeks to finally nail down what I think will…
1) be gender neutral
2) be age appropriate
3) be fun but not too busy
4) have adequate area for the older babies to move around
5) not look too DIY or simply slapped together.
Now I admit I can’t actually see if number 5 will be accomplished until it’s done, but I’m really hoping…
Here is the before picture. This is the front of the nursery (with the check in counter) and then it continues in a U shape around the right side of that partial wall. The door on the left is the entrance to the Preschool room.
To be continued…
Big job! If you ask other people what they would like to see in the space, give them a choice from 2-4 options that YOU would work with. DO NOT make it an open ended opportunity fort suggestions. The results will be TOO many ideas with TOO many opportunities to be offended. (Just saying)
Fun! I’m sure it will look great when you’re done!
Wow, what a job. I totally agree with what Patsy said.
