The Melting Pot

There is a restaurant named The Melting Pot in the cities.  I had heard of it, but never gone.  As the name implies, it’s a fondue restaurant.  In my mind, I had a hard time imagining how a place could ONLY be fondue and still survive.  Apparently there are many more types of fondue that I had never imagined.  🙂

So, on Sunday night I went out with my friend Stephanie to the Melting Pot.  It was awesome.  The funny part is that she called ahead a few weeks ago and reserved a time for us (“party of two”) and they put us in the back in one of those “romantic” booths with a curtain and everything.  Haha!  I guess when you call ahead for reservations for a party of two they expect it to be for a special occasion!  After taking a selfie and enjoying a good laugh over the situation, I actually loved being in the booth because it was so nice and quiet.  So often in restaurants I get a headache from the noise or I just get overwhelmed.  It was so nice to just be able to chill in our quiet booth.

We ordered a salad and a main dish (in this case she ordered filet mignon and I ordered spinach ravioli and we shared since we both wanted to try some of each) and then you also get to decide what type of substance you want to cook the food in (like oil or broth).  And then at the end you can choose a chocolate (they had like 12 different kinds!) to dip your dessert foods in.  They also had a bunch of different cheeses to try, but we didn’t do that.

Here’s a few of our fun pictures:

Here is our food! In the oil is our fresh veggies cooking already.

You’ll notice in the picture above we have our main dishes (meat and ravioli) and then the square dishes with the spoons are 6 types of dipping sauces.  The 2 round dishes are breading dips that we would dip the meat in before frying.  So.  Yummy.

Yup, you have the fry oil right at your table. When she dropped off our main dishes she told us how long to cook our food in the oil.

Here is our SUPER dark booth. It's not a flattering picture of me, I know, but it makes me laugh!

Here's another picture of the food. You can see that you really do get a lot of ravioli! The flash on her phone REALLY surprised me since it was so bright in our dark booth--hence the deer in headlight look!

And finally our dessert… yummmmmmm….

We decided to try chocolate with crunchy peanut butter. It was amazing. And look at all the yummy foods you get to dip! There was graham cracker crusted marshmallows, brownies, blondies and rice crispy bars...

Wow, large portions! Sounds like a good place to eat. And obviously Tim wasn’t really listening when after you left, I asked if this “event/outing” was in Shakopee, he said yes. Jennifer corrected my thinking.

You obviously are more excited about eating than that younger daughter of yours!!
