Monday Random Thoughts

  • First Monday of Spring break!  We had some church friends over this morning and the kids played hard.  Very fun!
  • We’ve finally decided on paint colors for the basement.
  • Did I mention that I’m painting the basement while the kids are away?
  • Thank goodness for paint sample cans!
  • Yesterday was really windy–it acted like a huge blow-dryer evaporating all the snow away (again).
  • Tim is working again.  Mostly doing bids, but he’s starting to be gone most mornings.  No nannies just yet, but soon…
  • Josiah is singing at the top of his lungs right now.  He’s supposed to be sleeping.  Hmmmm….
  • I’m 28 weeks along this week.
  • We registered Chloe for her first ever trip to Big Sandy Camp (later in August).  She’s excited (and a little nervous).  🙂
  • Chloe started to pack this morning to go to Nana & Bumpa’s house.  She was bummed when I had to remind her we don’t leave until tomorrow
  • Mom, I thought you might find this article interesting.  It’s about a study done on the most effective practice habits for musicians.  I liked it.  🙂 http://www.bulletproofmusician.com/8-things-top-practicers-do-differently/
  • Speaking of Mom–pray for the situation at the Senior Center.  There’s a meeting tonight and action needs to be taken.  It’s beyond ridiculous and pains me to think about the stress and pain it’s causing.

Spring Break!

Technically my spring break doesn’t start until Tuesday of next week… but Chloe’s has started tonight!  She doesn’t have school tomorrow or all next week, so there will be SO much fun in store!  I made the mistake of telling Josiah that he’s going to get to go to Nana & Bumpa’s house next week and he’s started counting down the days and telling me every time he sees me.  It’s going to be a long few days!  😉

I’m hopeful that our boatload of snow will melt quickly so we can actually spend some of our Spring Break outside.  We got 8 inches on Sunday night and we still have a good 3-4 inches still left.   When it finally does melt I’m sure it’s going to be quite soggy….  So I guess I shouldn’t be too anxious for it to melt!

In other news, I had to put on my fake wedding ring this week.  Every pregnancy I have to store mine away as I swell up–and this was the week.  It’s sad.  But I also know that after I’m done being pregnant I’ll go back to my “normal” size and be able to wear it again.  I have my appointment next Thursday so we’ll see if I’m still measuring ahead…

Bacon Sushi!

Tim saw this idea online a few weeks ago and wanted to try it.  It was surprisingly easy and quite tasty–although I think I still prefer to eat bacon just as bacon… 🙂

Also, having never eaten real sushi I don’t have anything to compare it to.  But what’s not to like?  Bacon = good.  Meat = good.  BBQ sauce = good.  Cheese = good.  Crumbled chips = good!

Spring Winter Storm

It was gorgeous last weekend (it even got up to 70*!!) and then it was pleasant this past week (hovering around 40*).

And then last night we got 8 inches of snow.

Now, to be fair, it’s not brutally cold (I think when I last checked it was 32*) so it’s not all bad.  And it’s actually very pretty.  But I was really looking forward to more walks outside with the kids.  I guess that will have to wait until next week…

It was a warm wintery walk to the bus stop this morning!

Things I’ve done that make me feel like life was back to normal this week:

  • Cleaned the bathrooms
  • Talked to Mom
  • Scrubbed the kitchen sink
  • Read books to Josiah
  • Made chocolate chip banana bread
  • Talked to Shannon
  • Ran to Target
  • Went to bed at a decent hour
  • Fought with Chloe about practicing piano slower
  • Cleaned out the fridge
  • Made plans to have dinner with some friends this weekend
  • Jabbered away at Tim so long that he asked me to stop 😉

It’s good to have life back to normal again.

two days of peace…

Well, the results for the piano contest arrived in mailboxes today.  That meant phone calls and emails about the results and confusion and disgruntled parents… etc.

At least I had two days of peace from when I finished the mailing to when they arrived!  😉

Giant Icicle!

On the side of the garage we have an icicle.  It’s pretty big.

No.  Scratch that.

It’s massive.  In fact, it’s actually touching the roof all the way down to the ground now.

In other news, I see in the weather that it’s going to warm up starting tomorrow and gradually getting warmer and warmer until Wednesday.   Can I get a Hip-hip-Hooray!!!?
