Housewarming gift from my students

Today I had a student come to the door with this….

paper towels from my student!

🙂

Isn’t that great!?  I had to laugh at the boy carrying in the package that stretched above his head–but I’m super excited!

(P.S. I answered your questions, Mom and Kylene in the comments from yesterday’s post)

We have the keys!!!

It’s official! We own a new house!

Unfortunately I had to rush right home from the signing to teach all day so I didn’t even get to go and step inside of it until I finished teaching at 9:00… but IT’S OURS!!! YIPPIE!!!!!!

Now the fun of moving can begin!

More pictures to come tomorrow–when I can actually see things in the light.

Cool Water Droplet Pictures

This afternoon it started raining but it was so cold outside that the droplets stayed in their ball form.  I took these pictures on the railing of our deck outside.  Didn’t they turn out so cool!?!

The other day I had the Playstation on to let the kids watch a show (we love “My Little Pony” around here!) and then walked away to do other things.  The show ended and I told them they couldn’t watch anymore, but I also hadn’t walked up and turned off the system yet…

Much to my surprise, when I walked into the room a couple minutes later, I found Josiah with the Playstation controller zipping around the menu trying to get another show started all by himself!  That little stinker!

He was almost in the right spot–which would have really complicated things because all his efforts would have worked and then I’m sure he would be trying EVERY time I left the room–but luckily didn’t quite get it started.

“See Mom, I was just HELPING you by starting a new show… “

And then I got a nasty cold…

I got my beginning of the school year cold that I always get.  Every year.  And every year I hope I won’t get it.  You would think I would just accept my fate, huh?

This year it’s really sucking the life out of me… so I’m off to bed to sleep with kleenex stuffed in my nose with my NyQuill bottle perched by my bedside.  Yippie!

Josiah has graduated to a toddler bed

In the midst of the chaos recently we figured it would be a fine time to transition Josiah to a toddler bed and out of his crib.  This decision was made mostly due to the fact that the crib was a bit large for the new room and also since he had recently figured out how to climb out of it…  so the combination of those two negatives made the decision easy.

And he loves his new bed!

The first night he thought it was really funny to keep coming back out of his room to give “one more goodnight kiss” for about 6 times in a row, but since then he’s done REALLY well.

Home!

We arrived home from our TN trip last night just after 8:00. It gave us just enough time to unpack the car, let the kids play with Tim, run to the new house for a teaching outfit for today (all of our clothes have been moved now), put the kids to bed and then collapse into bed myself. For some reason our house has developed a strange, not pleasant, smell while I was gone (I know what you’re thinking, and NO it’s not the smell of a man who has been living like a bachelor… 😉 it’s more like the smell of old stale cigarette smoke, which is REALLY STRANGE since that’s pretty much impossible…) anyway, I’ve been cleaning and scrubbing things to make sure the smell is going away. Ugh.

I had such a fantastic vacation with the kids and my family (more on that later!)…. but today is a little overwhelming. I’m teaching all day today, we’re moving the rest of our stuff to the house tomorrow, then on Thursday I clean out this house and by Thursday night we’ll be sleeping in our new place. whew!

Working on the new house

I spent the morning at the new house getting the yard more presentable.  It still has a ways to go (LOTS of weeds to pull, and I’ll need to go back to mow it on a lower setting…) but it’s starting to look nicer.  The kids had a really great time playing in the yard and on the back deck.

I need to go back and take some real pictures–so far the only ones have been documenting the exact state that the house was when we moved in.  This is the only “real” picture I have…

Happy to have a new temporary house!
