Writing about all the big & little things
A family at church came up to us on Sunday and said that they had something for us in the back of their van. We were perplexed. She sent her teenage sons to the car to get it…
and then came squeals of delight when they appeared again.
Yes, folks, it’s a giant Dinosaur. Complete with blinking eyes, moving head, wagging tail, and “raaaaring!” It’s pretty cute if I do say so myself. And the kids just adore it. Well, actually Josiah was afraid of it for a while (and I don’t blame him one bit) but now he really likes it. I did a little searching and it appears that his name is actually “Kota the Triceritops.” Before we knew that Chloe had determined that her name should be Lilly. 🙂
Never a dull moment around here folks.
Oh, and I should add–the family that gave it to us got it from another friend who was going to throw it out. I know, right? Throw it out?! An awesome toy like this? Sheesh…
Chloe had her very first official program on Friday night. I had planned to miss it because I couldn’t afford to take off a night of teaching–especially with the recital coming this weekend–but lo and behold, I had a few cancellations and then a few swapping… and I was able to go! It was short and sweet. Here was the program…
They performed 4 songs. It wasn’t singing… it was more like rapping actually, since they just spoke the words in time. 🙂 But it was cute. And in their defense it was three classes combined of 3 year olds and 4 year olds and Chloe is now 5… so they had never ever been all together before. That’s a pretty wide range of ages. And with everyone onstage at the same time there were 41 kids. At home she was able to sing them for me with the correct tune, but when they all started “performing” them there the 3 year olds drown out the singing with their loud speaking. 🙂 But like I said, it was still cute. It was fun to watch Chloe be nervous and then see us and visibly relax (and then wave frantically).
After the program they had cookies in the gym, but we didn’t stay because the line was really long and Josiah was starting to get wild. But before we left Chloe got to take a picture with her good friend Maddy. Aren’t they adorable…?
And then of course we wanted to take a family picture. She did great even though she was nervous. She had been telling me all week that she was looking forward to the program the most so I’m glad it was a success!
When we moved in both upstairs kids rooms were already painted pink. This worked in our favor with Chloe since she LOVES pink. It does mean that Josiah will need a more massive room make-over someday, but he’s young enough that it’s not really a problem right now (besides the surprised look on people’s faces when they walk into his room and are stunned at the vibrant pink shade… hehe!).
Here’s Chloe’s room for reference:
Tim and I have had discussions about what we would like Josiah’s room to look like someday, which involves repainting and adding Cars decals (since he’s gaga about them right now). However in all the discussion Chloe started to feel a little bit left out since her room was basically “done” already. So, we decided to help her pick out something to make her room her own, and we came up with…. adorable flower decals! I was excited because I wanted to steer clear of princess items in case she is out of that phase soon and flowers will be able to (hopefully) span many years.
Here is the finished design–isn’t it fun! It’s like it’s raining flowers! 🙂
They even trail a little bit above her closet…
We opted to only do the flowers on one wall because I thought it might be a little overwhelming (and also because I didn’t want to have to buy that many!) She is pleased as punch. The only negative is that I didn’t clean the walls before applying the stickers (apparently an important step) so some of the flower have fallen off. It’s not really a big deal. We just have to stick them back on again. 🙂 It’s like a work of art that can always be morphing!
Here’s the long awaited picture of the garage! Ok, I’m sure it’s not long awaited, but some of you were probably mildly curious. As a reference I’ve reposted the pictures of what it looked like before…
And, drum roll please, the (mostly) finished space!
Yesterday Chloe woke up and got herself dressed and even DID HER OWN HAIR! She came down and spun around for me, and I have to say I was impressed. She’s definitely developing more and more of what she thinks looks good and is starting to buck what I want her to wear (unless I’m able to talk up the outfit as being SO AMAZING!) 😉
Here’s her outfit and hair…
Then there’s Josiah sitting across the table from her munching away on his cereal… being as goofy as can be!
This past Sunday Chloe and I drove down to Owatonna to visit Stacy and their new puppy, Vinny. We had a blast. The puppy is just sooooo adorable and super sweet–the perfect puppy for them. And Chloe had such a great time playing with the puppy and with Stacy’s husband, Bryan. 🙂 He was a really good sport and entertained Chloe for quite some time.
We chatted for a while and then all 4 of us drove out to a nearby pumpkin patch. It was an absolutely perfect day. We walked all around the field looking for perfect pumpkins then watched the pumpkin launcher and looked at all of the activities they had available (none of which we actually did since they all cost extra $). All in all a fun outing!
Now for pictures!
