Writing about all the big & little things

MEA week

This week is fall break, or MEA break.  That means Shakopee doesn’t have school on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.  I am teaching as normal, since pretty much everyone is still around for this break, but it did mean that I had to be sure to line up nanny’s who would want to come here on a day they don’t have school… Luckily I was able to find some.  This is our first break since Chloe has been in school.  That means she obviously gets to be home from school on those 3 days–which is going to be a little bit of an adjustment for Josiah and myself, having just mastered our morning routines without Chloe.  It’s all good, though.  In fact I’m hoping that we can maybe plan a quick trip to a pumpkin patch–or at least an outing to buy pumpkins (perhaps just at the grocery store!).

In other news:  I found these creations adorable that Chloe made this weekend.  That girl sure love to “craft!”

Mom and Dad

September is a busy month.

Throughout the year there is an ebb and flow of  easy months and much busier months.  I’ve gotten used to March being very busy for me because of Piano contest.  And generally December is busy because of the holidays.  I need to remember how chaotic September is.

Everything starts up at the same time:  lesson go back into full swing, school starts, nanny’s start coming, BSF starts, growth groups start, back to 2 services at church, MMTA meetings start and then I have my fall contest music seminars every Tuesday morning.  Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m not complaining.  In fact almost everything on that list I’ve chosen to be a part of, but I really wish things were a little more spread out.  By the time the weekend comes it’s been such a whirlwind that I’m ready for a break!  The good news is–once we hit October, I’m home free!  I should be back into the groove of everything starting and then my seminars will be over as well as some of my meetings.  This year I’m going to go out on a limb and try to take Josiah with me to my MMTA meeting… I’m not sure how well it will work but since it’s just him now I thought it was worth a try.  He can sit and play REALLY well sometimes so I’m hoping I can set him up with a show and headphones in the back and it will work just as perfectly as I envision it in my head.  🙂  We’ll see.  My meeting is on Friday morning… I’ll let you know how it goes.

In other news we got a new camera lens a while back and I was playing with it the other day.  It’s a much bigger zoom, so I took this picture of  Tim and Chloe playing in the far corner of the yard while I was standing on the deck.  Pretty cool, huh?

And then I took this picture of a flower that was down on the floor of the deck.  I was pretty pleased with how pretty it turned out!

In other news, Chloe had her well child check this morning.  We came to the consensus that she is healthy and normal and tall.  But, really, that’s no new information to me!    Hehe!  😉

Happy Birthday Chloe!

Chloe turned 6 years old on Sunday.  It was a very fun day and she told me she had a FANTASTIC day.  The theme of the day was Rainbows.   Oh, and the big highlight of turning 6 was that she got to decide if she wanted to cut her hair (more than just a trim) or not.  She had been mentioning it for quite some time and I was worried that it was just a passing phase, so we set a time and if she still wanted it when that time arrived then she could do it.  So, the big day finally arrived and she decided she wanted her hair to touch her shoulders and add a little bit of bangs.

I let Chloe pick a “theme” for the party and she chose RAINBOW.   It thought that was cute–and really fun to do!

Chloe’s first day of school!

I have oodles and oodles of pictures from our family gathering this weekend, but before I dive into those, I just had to post our first day of school pictures.  Chloe had her outfit all laid out last night and her backpack packed (to the brim–she had a lot of items they asked her to bring to class like kleenex, clorox wipes, gym shoes, art shirt, ziplock bags–so it was really heavy… poor girl.)  Anyway we all walked to the bus stop this morning with Kylene and Justin to see her get on.  She was very nervous, but did great.  She walked right on.  I didn’t ask her to turn around on the bus so I could get a better picture–I figured she was nervous enough.  But after she found a seat she waved happily out the window at me.  She didn’t cry or cling to me at all.  Such a brave girl.  🙂

And I haven’t cried either.  I’m more curious how today turns out.  Tim went into work early so he could meet her at the bus stop when she gets home.  I’m sure she’ll have SOOOOOO much to tell us!

Tea Party

Chloe’s friend Izzy has this adorable tea party set that they like to use.  It’s quite adorable.  So, the other day when they came over Chloe requested that they bring the tea set along and have a little tea party.  And yes, it’s actual tea (catnip tea) in the pot.  😉
