Writing about all the big & little things
Tonight Chloe has her Preschool Graduation–which I know is a little over the top for someone as young as she is… but I still think it’s cool. It’s an achievement and it will let her be excited to go into Kindergarten next year. Leaving the house on a bus in the Fall is a big change and she’s a little worried about it so having a celebration of the change is fun. Here was her picture today… (oh and be sure to come back tomorrow for the comparison pictures of her first day of school vs. her last day of school–they’re awesome!)
I finally mowed and pulled all the weeds this week. It’s fun to walk every inch of our yard and realize how much yard we actually have now! I was able to do the whole thing in an hour–which I’m quite pleased about. I’ve been holding off weeding the flower beds until I could clearly see what was a weed and what seems to be “real.” I’m still not 100% sure about everything but it looks a lot tidier now, so I’m happy about that. 🙂
In other news, Chloe only has 3 more days of Preschool left. Isn’t that crazy? It feels like just yesterday that we were living in the rental house taking her picture for the first day of school… It’s been such a great opportunity for her to go there. And the teachers are so wonderful. So, even though it makes my life crazy and hectic trying to get her to and from school and get Josiah up and down from his nap in-between AND teach it’s been great.
This morning Chloe and I went to a Ballet. They performed Beauty & the Beast…
It was based on the book and not the Disney version (so there was no Belle in a Yellow Dress). I don’t know if I’ve ever been to a real ballet before. A couple years back Chloe and I went to a Minnesota Orchestra Ballet thing, but that was a series of songs and didn’t really have a plot line like this one did. So, I must say–it was fantastic! They have such poise and grace and strength. And the music was designed and composed just for this and it was just spectacular. I admit my eyes did well up twice just because I was moved with the beauty of the music/dancing. But I’m a bit of a softie these days… 🙂
Oh, and I have two students that were actually in the ballet as well–isn’t that cool too? In fact, that’s how I heard about it. My student brought me a flyer and invited me to come. Then the other family approached me to ask if I would be interested in going to the dress rehearsal (which was this morning) because they had another home-school family back out. Chloe and I jumped at the opportunity! Well, actually it was me that jumped at it and decided that Chloe would love it to. Josiah, on the other hand, was dropped off at a friends house. There was no way he was going to make it through an hour and a half of music and dancing and quiet. 🙂
I had a great time. Chloe thought it was AWESOME as well. And Josiah had the time of his life making a mess at someone else’s house. 🙂
It took a while. A very long while… that tooth was literally hanging out of her mouth.
This morning at breakfast she turned to me and said, “my tooth feels like it’s stuck to my lip.” Then she looked and it was literally stuck to her lip–it had just fallen right out! No pulling or anything. (which means we probably could have gotten it out days ago if we had just yanked on it… )
She sat right down this morning and wrote a letter to the tooth fairy. It made me laugh.
