Writing about all the big & little things

So, “how did Josiah do” you may ask?

I am pleased to announce that Josiah was EXCELLENT during my meeting this morning.  I mean, come on, was there really any doubt?  😉  Hehe!  He was a gem and sat quietly in the back watching his shows and eating apple slices.  The only time he yelled to me was when his headphones started to slip off his head and he wasn’t sure how to get them back on.  In fact, there were times that I forgot he was even back there!

So, we came home and celebrated with a picnic lunch and played a little baseball in the yard.

Puppy. No not ours… ;)

There is a family with a new puppy down the street from us.  Every morning the mom and kids walk to the bus stop with the puppy, Berkley.  Josiah has taken to that puppy like a moth to a flame.  Today he insisted on waiting in front of their house until Berkley came out and then he and the kids and the puppy ran down the street together to the bus stop.  And then when we come home he gives Berkley a hug and waves goodbye to her.

I find it adorable.  I guess Josiah will be a dog person.  🙂

Rabbits!

I have a family that I teach (2 daughters) who also come and watch the kids every once in a while.  They’re a delightful family–the girls are now getting older (7th grade and 9th grade) so we’ve known them for quite a while.  In fact, the Mom is my Creative Memories consultant as well.  All that to say…

We were talking about the girls finishing up their 4-H projects over the past couple of weeks.  The county fair was last week and they each entered over 20 things each!  That’s a lot of projects!  One of the things that they participate in is rabbit showing.  So we got to talking about their rabbits and decided that it would be wonderful to let Chloe and Josiah come over and see them.

Which is what we did this morning.

They now have 8 rabbits–all with adorable names like, oreo, hershey and stargazer.  The girls were very informative and helpful and let Chloe & Josiah pet them and told them all about them.  Josiah was THRILLED to be able to touch them.  Oreo (pictured above) was the softest rabbit I have ever touched–It was amazing. Almost so soft that didn’t feel real.  Both girls are moving on with their rabbits to show at the State Fair later in August.  The older daughter has a very unique rabbit–I can’t remember the exact breed anymore–but she is almost 20 pounds!  That’s one LARGE rabbit!  But she is super affectionate (she licks!) and sweet.  A gentle giant I would say.

normal sized rabbit… 🙂

So after the kids pet the rabbits for a while they ran around the yard with the girls while the Mom and I talked about flowers.  She has huge flowerbed filled with gorgeous flowers–15 years in the making–which were just stunning.  So we chatted about them for quite some time and even let the kids bring home a few flowers.  All in all, a fantastic outing!  🙂

Beach Day & Como Zoo Day!

This week I finally got two of my “summer-to-do-list” activities done.  I really wanted to get to the beach and to Como zoo, and we did it!

On Thursday morning we loaded up and met the Baker’s at a beautiful sand beach over by their house and spent the morning lounging in the sand and watching the kids play in the water.  It was the perfect morning–no too hot, but nice and sunny.  Chloe and Josiah were both so excited to go that they had a hard time falling asleep the night before and then they were up and had their swim suites on before I was even awake.  🙂

Then today we met up with the Tindall’s (friends of ours from church) at Como zoo.  It was already buzzing with activity, even though we got there just before it opened.  We loaded up and walked leisurely through the exhibits (the Polar bear was my favorite, the Tiger was Josiah’s and the giraffe was Chloe’s).  Then we made our way back to our cars which we had strategically parked next to the playground and picnic tables, to enjoy lunch and a little fun time.

I’m so happy to finally done something “summery!”
