I have a family that I teach (2 daughters) who also come and watch the kids every once in a while. They’re a delightful family–the girls are now getting older (7th grade and 9th grade) so we’ve known them for quite a while. In fact, the Mom is my Creative Memories consultant as well. All that to say…
We were talking about the girls finishing up their 4-H projects over the past couple of weeks. The county fair was last week and they each entered over 20 things each! That’s a lot of projects! One of the things that they participate in is rabbit showing. So we got to talking about their rabbits and decided that it would be wonderful to let Chloe and Josiah come over and see them.
Which is what we did this morning.
They now have 8 rabbits–all with adorable names like, oreo, hershey and stargazer. The girls were very informative and helpful and let Chloe & Josiah pet them and told them all about them. Josiah was THRILLED to be able to touch them. Oreo (pictured above) was the softest rabbit I have ever touched–It was amazing. Almost so soft that didn’t feel real. Both girls are moving on with their rabbits to show at the State Fair later in August. The older daughter has a very unique rabbit–I can’t remember the exact breed anymore–but she is almost 20 pounds! That’s one LARGE rabbit! But she is super affectionate (she licks!) and sweet. A gentle giant I would say.
So after the kids pet the rabbits for a while they ran around the yard with the girls while the Mom and I talked about flowers. She has huge flowerbed filled with gorgeous flowers–15 years in the making–which were just stunning. So we chatted about them for quite some time and even let the kids bring home a few flowers. All in all, a fantastic outing! 🙂
Fun, inspiring, and educational. What more could you ask for? It makes me miss animals. But no one can do everything, right?
The kids eyes look so amazingly blue in that last shot.
