Living Room Transformation!

We have finally completed our living room makeover.  It may not seem like a huge difference to you, but we’re quite happy with the way everything turned out.

We can’t move any of the furniture which definitely limits the “wow” factor in the makeover.  We also wanted to use a paint color for the walls that would blend well with the kitchen since our downstairs is so small.  Which is why we decided to go with the same blue that is already in the kitchen.  By doing the one accent wall it really warms up the space.

My favorite part of the make over would have to be the chocolate brown curtains.  I like the uniqueness of the grommets at the top and I love the subtle pattern on the fabric.  The are also much longer than our old set which I think makes the room look more grand.  And the best part is that they actually block the light!  Our old curtains really didn’t do anything… and anyone who’s had to sleep in our living room can attest to that fact, especially when the sun came blaring in super early.   Tim also replaced the burgundy mini blinds with nice clean white ones (but you can’t tell in the picture since we did that a few weeks ago already and I forgot to get a picture…)

I’m a little disappointed at the abrasively pink chair, but there’s no other good place for it.  One thing is for sure:  there isn’t any confusion over who’s chair it is!

But the biggest difference would have to be the recessed lighting.  We LOVE it!  It even works on a dimmer switch just like our dining room.  The room is so much brighter it’s unbelievable.  Tim knows a carpenter here in town who recommended a friend–and he just came over the next day and whipped it out.  We’ve been toying with the idea of doing it ourselves, but it was worth paying a little extra to have it completely done in 3 hours.

It looks awesome. I love the can lights. Are the lights at the front of the room switchable separate from the back ones — probably doesn’t matter, though, if they’re dimmable for movie watching.

    They look fantastic.

I like having the furniture in the same place — it’s like one of those “spot the difference” puzzles.

Nathan, they are all on the same switch. It’s such a small room it wasn’t worth it to do separate switches for front & back lights. And I agree about the “spot the difference” comment–that’s exactly when I thought of as I was posting it yesterday! 🙂

Next time we come over, I’ll have to ask the kids if they can see what’s different! Looks great….makes me want to break out the paint!

I love it! The chunky frames on the pictures on the wall help, too. And I agree about the curtains. It’s amazing what a good set of curtains can do for a room!! 🙂
