Writing about all the big & little things

Friday: Food & Freebies

Today Chloe and I met Tim for lunch.  It was an unusual day b/c all of his co-workers are gone on various things so he was the only one working today.  So, I thought it would be a perfect day to drive in and enjoy some time together.  We went to eat The Conventional Grill, which is like a malt shoppe type of restaurant, and ordered bacon cheeseburgers and a giant strawberry malt.  It was sensational.  Chloe had her little grilled cheese sandwich that she chowed down on happily as well.    After we finished Tim drove us around the area to show us some of the jobs they had done over the past few years and also past some enormous houses to oogle at.  My absolute favorite was, what Tim called, the “hobbit house.”  It is beyond describing.  I’ve decided that I need to go back and take a picture of it to do it justice.  It was awesome.

After dropping Tim back off at his job site Chloe and I headed back home.  She woke up about an hour early this morning and then we didn’t do a morning nap (I’m starting to take it out… again…) so by the time we were driving home she was sleepy.  She normally won’t sleep in the car but she had her blanket that she very meticulously laid across her lap until it was just perfect and then the quiet hum of the car started to work it’s magic.  The problem was, I didn’t want her to fall asleep b/c we were so close to home.  Wouldn’t it figure that the one time she does fall asleep I don’t want her to…  It was hard not to laugh at how tired she was and how she was trying to stay awake for me, but just couldn’t.  Her head kept flopping around and her eyes were drooping and rolling around.  By the time we got home she was just about a goner.  I laid her down and she was out.

This morning as we were eating breakfast I noticed a garage sale a block away so Chloe and I walked over to check it out.  It was a couple of families combining their stuff and they had some kids clothes so I started rummaging through.  The people running the sale were enamored with Chloe and after a while one of the ladies brought out 2 dance costume (tutu type things) and said Chloe could just have them.  Wow!  Chloe was quite pleased with her new items and when we got home we put them right on.  (As a side note I was able to get a bunch of clothes and some books–I averaged just less than 50 cents an item.  Not bad!!!) The last picture shows all of the clothes I got.  She’s sitting next to her pile of books that we also bought:  10 for a dollar!
