Writing about all the big & little things

The endless residing…

Well, it’s finally finished.  The neighbor’s house is now resided–it took exactly three weeks.

I forgot to take a picture of the house before they started ripping the siding off… but if you look closely at the first picture on the left side you can see the peach color that it used to be.

So, on the first day they started ripping the siding off pretty quickly.

Then they covered it with tyvak wrapping.  At this point I was impressed at how quickly things were coming along.  Until the next day…

When they tore all the tyvak off and started doing MORE demo…

Apparently they took off the first layer of siding and found out their was lead in the paint and then and discovered asbestosis.  So that required special removal of the siding which took a billion times longer.   Notice the nice white uniforms they had to wear.

But they finally got the second layer of wood removed.  And by finally I mean days later.

Then they got it wrapped up again and even started on the siding.  At this point I really thought they would just whip the siding up in a few days.  I was wrong.  They worked painfully slow.  Maybe I just have unrealistic expectations on how fast siding should go up… they would do half a side of the house every day.  Only half.  Ugh.

But three weeks later…. THEY FINISHED!

The only bummer part is that they decided not to do their garage at the same time.  So the house is a pretty shade of cool blue but the garage is still peach.

I also think it’s funny that they chose blue.  In fact it’s a very similar shade to our garage & shutters.  But the house on the other side of them is a robin’s egg blue which clashes pretty harshly with their new blue… but I can’t see that house from here, so I’m happy with how it turned out.  🙂  I think it looks like a country house with the new color and fresh white picket fence.  Tim’s not crazy about it, but we both agree it’s better than the peach!

Isn’t that the house you’d like to buy? So they went and took care of all that asbestos for you! How great is that? 🙂

    I think it’s pretty.

I know! 🙂 That thought definitely occurred to me throughout this process…
