Yesterday Chloe and I had the privilege of hanging out with Shannon and baby Xavi. Since we went on our adventure last week, I’m starting to allow Chloe to flex her naptime schedule a little more. It’s nice to be able to do things I really want (like hang out with Shannon) and trust that Chloe will be okay. She still has her moments of… um… shall we say, stubbornness, but that’s to be expected of a toddler (especially one that took too short of an afternoon nap). Overall it was a fantastic trip. We even took a nice long leisurely walk around the neighborhood and enjoyed large caramel coolers from Caribou Coffee (yummmm). After we got back, we sat around outside enjoying the gorgeous afternoon sun. Ah, glorious relaxing summer days.
Today I went for an early run before worship team practice. And I’m sure glad I decided to do it right away–b/c it’s HOT now. I’m starting to get nervous about next weeks’ triathlon that I’m a part of. My part is only 2.5 miles, but that still quite a bit of effort (at least for me!). I’m working hard on maintaining my running speed–my goal is to finish is about 20 min. Later this week, I’ll time myself and see how I’m doing. For now, I go for much longer runs (more like 40-45 min.) so by the time I run next weekend that should feel like a cinch. Right? Well, that’s the hope at least… I’m still not very fast, but I just keep telling myself that the good part is that I’m still getting out there and running. And Chloe just adores the whole running thing, so she’s definitely an advocate of my keeping this up. 🙂
The best training plans include lots of running at longer distances than your race. You should be in good shape. I can’t wait to hear your results. I think you may surprise yourself with the adrenalin of the race and the fact that you don’t have to push 50 pounds of stroller and baby weight!
I love that photo of you and Shannon!
You’ll do great! Especially since you’ve been running while pushing Chloe…..it’ll be way easier.
