Melting Snowbank

Remember this snowbank?  Yup, it was HUGE.

But it finally started to warm up this week and slowly but surely, melt.   On Tuesday Tim put up this wooden stake and it was level with the top of the snowbank.  By the next day it was down signifincantly…

And by the next day, even more…

And this evening when I went out the stake is almost falling over…  We marked every day (except we forgot to mark the start of yesterday when it was so warm) so we could see how fast it was melting.

It is quite exciting to be able to look out the window as I teach and actually see something other than a giant snow bank.  On the other hand, as you can tell by the pictures, everything is horrendously dirty!    So, I’ll be more excited when everything is melted and clean again.  Today it rained on and off for most of the day, which helped clean off the roads a little, but it has a long ways to go.

Yup. So much to love and so much to hate about spring. Love the warmth and the snow disappearing. But the mud and standing water and wet shoes and all that. I’ll be glad when everything is finally dry.
