“Other Stuff” Day 2

“Other Stuff” Day 2:  Apple Cinnamon Refrigerator Oatmeal.

As promised, here is the overnight oatmeal recipe I mentioned yesterday with the Chia seeds in it.  I’m actually going to link directly to the page that I got it from since I’m sure there is no possible way for me to explain it better than she does–and she has fantastic pictures to go along with it… And who doesn’t love pictures?

Her web site is called “The Yummy Life.”  There’s even a link near the top to view the full directions and you’ll find a bunch of other flavors to try.  I decided to do Apple cinnamon because it didn’t require me to get anything from the store.  We always have unsweetened applesauce in the house (we got through A LOT of applesauce…) so it was easy. Oh, wait, I take that back–I DID have to get greek yogurt.  But a big container of it lasts quite a while for me, so that’s not too bad.  I’m excited to try a few of the other flavors too.

Chloe loves helping me make it because she gets to shake the jar to help mix it.  🙂

I wasn’t sure if I would like cold oatmeal, but I actually do.  Plus I can’t beat the convenience of having a breakfast ready to go at any minute.  And some days I need to eat in the car on the way to my next thing!

Which brings me to my next amazing discovery.  I had no idea that they sold reusable lids for mason jars!  I ordered some and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!  I blend all of Josiah’s baby food in mason jars these days, so I just pop the jar right onto the blender and then I can put a reusable lid on and it goes right into the fridge.  And now that they are plastic I can put them in the dishwasher with the jars.  It’s lovely.  And since Josiah is a tank and eats a lot of fruits and veggies these days, it’s nice to be able to not have to wash any of it by hand.

Here are a few pictures just because I thought this post should have pictures!

Look at those awesome lids! And the canned peaches (rinsed and drained) are ready to be "blenderized!"

Now pop it right on and blend away!

And done!

That is awesome! Where did you find the lids?

And bravo to you for making your own baby food. Good way to save money AND feed your boy better food in the process.

    Thanks! 🙂

I got the lids on amazon.
