Writing about all the big & little things

And so it begins

We had our first buyer walk through on Tuesday. It was actually a client of our own real estate agent so she brought them through before we’ve actually listed the house. The stucco still needs to be repaired before we list. In fact that was supposed to happen today–but I guess the 4 inches of snow that we got this morning put the brakes on that! (And as an aside, Tim was also supposed to start back to work today as well… haha!)

The house wasn’t right for the buyers–he was too tall! Isn’t that funny? It makes sense though, since our house has short ceilings and angled ceilings upstairs… It was a problem we didn’t foresee!

Bathroom Downstairs

I was sad to see my beautiful green paint covered up, but all for the sake of a sale, right?  😉

BATHROOM DOWNSTAIRS:

Stager Suggestions:

  • paint a neutral color
  • buy dark “show” towels
  • install new floor (that we showed her we were planning to put in)

Yo, yo — Sup?

You have to imagine me saying that heading in my best fake gangster voice.

.

🙂

.

There. You did it, didn’t you.

.

And it made you giggle.

Haha! Cuz I’m so NOT gangster! 😀

Anyway… I’ve crossed into the realm of crazy around here. I sent out volunteer request emails last week and the next morning I had 33 emails to respond to. Yikes! But things are really starting to fall into place nicely this year despite the extra emails and volunteers dropping like flies.

I’m also busying — is that the correct spelling? — myself with packing up more boxes of stuff. I’m happy with how clean things are starting to look. The staging lady was supposed to come last week, but first we had a snow day and then her kids got sick, so now she’s scheduled to come on Thursday. I’m excited. And a little nervous…

In other news Josiah is into singing Veggietales “Hairbrush” song. Can you hear it in your head? “Oh wheeeere, is my hairbrush? Oh wheeere is my hairbrush? Oh, where, oh where, oh where, oh where, oh wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere…. is my hairbrush?” It’s hilarious.

Snow Day!?

Today is a monumental occasion–it’s the first snow day Shakopee has had in 5 years.

Yup.

Tim said he thinks we got about 6-7 inches. So… he spent the last 4 hours driving around town using his snowblower to dig people out, then came home and did our driveway and the neighbors driveways and now he’s driving up to a friends house in the cities. 🙂 I even helped out by using the snowblower on our sidewalks (and a few of the neighbors) while he did our driveway.

But… because of the snow and snowday the staging lady had to cancel. Bummer! I was so looking forward to hearing her thoughts. Oh well, it will have to wait a few more days.

Random Monday Evening Thoughts. Why yes, I think I WILL use bullets…

  • Next Sunday is my first piano contest volunteer day here at my house.  I better get things organized before then!
  • Chloe and I are still going to the gym.
  • Today my water bottle spilled out into my bag on the way to the gym = soggy shoes (yuck!)
  • I started packing some boxes.  I now have 8 stacked in the garage.
  • The boxes are beautiful.  I might need to take a picture for you… 😉
  • We are going to need a LOT of boxes.
  • Our plan is to finish repair projects and stage the house over Spring Break (the last week of March).
  • Yesterday was a crazy bad day of eating for me.  Really.  Bad.
  • Today is a new day, however, and I did much better.  🙂
  • I’m excited that daylight savings time does NOT fall on piano contest weekend this year.  I hate loosing a hour on such a crazy weekend!
  • I became a member of our church this weekend.  About time, right?
  • Chloe is going to a birthday party this weekend (her cousin, Kailynn) and she is already brimming with excitement.
  • We bought a wireless light switch for our bedroom upstairs.  It’s so cool.  I wonder why we didn’t get one years ago!
  • Tim has a bit of work stress building lately–I’ll come back to that in a different post… this is going to be a hard year.
  • I talked to my sister-in-law, Krista, on the phone yesterday.  It was so much fun!
  • Josiah sometimes will “wind up” his arms before running to you.  It might be the cutest thing in the whole word.
  • I tried to get my bank to find out if a customer’s check might bounce before I deposited it.  They wouldn’t do it.  I’m frustrated that I would have to absorb the bank fees of the customer bouncing a check.  Grrr…
  • One of my students told me about the story of “CinderEdina”  the neighbor to Cinderella.  It sounds like a really cute story.  Have you heard of it?
  • I really should get back to work on contest stuff…  It’s now less than 3 weeks away!

To Michigan and back

Sunday, right after church, Tim and his Mom left for MI.  They made the long trek to pick up the chairs for the church–spending the night at his Aunt & Uncle’s house in IN–and back again just in time to say goodnight to the kids yesterday.  It was quite the whirlwind trip!  I’m happy to report, though, that they had an uneventful trip with good driving weather until the last 2 hours where they ran into sleet/snow/wind.   It slowed the last leg of their trip, but made it home safe and sound.  And now our church has chairs!  Yippie!

And now they are in their new home!

We now return you to your regularily scheduled programming.

I’m baaaaack!

Yup, it’s been a spotty week for remembering to post.  But I’m feeling almost 100% better and things are returning to normal again.

Tim has decided to make the trip to MI this coming Sunday/Monday and he’s going to make the long drive with his Mom–which is awesome.  I was so worried about him getting sleepy on his own with such a long drive.  Now he’ll have someone to talk to!  🙂

Chloe and I are still going to the gym to run/walk.  I’m actually very proud of myself–I was feeling miserable but I still made myself exercise almost every day this past week.  Yay me!  It’s still a work in progress getting her to always cooperate, but she is definitely starting to run along more.  And I’m happy to say that I’m able to run a little more as well.  I’m not fast by any means, but every little bit counts!

My battery in my scale ran out this morning.  I hope that’s not a bad sign.  Hehe!  I’ll have to get a new one by Friday so I can find keep tracking my weigh-in’s!

I started to stress out like crazy about our house search this past week.  Our house seems to be falling apart at the seams lately and I don’t know how we will ever be able to get enough for it.  But God is a big God and can do anything.  So, we’re pushing through in faith.  We’ll see what happens.  Nothing much has happened with finding a new house yet–I’ve gone to some open houses, but we can’t seriously start looking until the Spring since we’re ready to list our house yet.  And the market could be very different in just a couple of months.

Can you believe we’re only one month out from my State Piano Contest?  Let the chaos begin!!!!
