More Dende Drama…

Last night Dende appears to have had another seizure.  He had one about 2 years ago–and when I took him to the vet they told me that “sometimes dogs have seizures, and it’s not a big deal.”  Which really isn’t much of a comfort if you ask me.

We were in bed when we heard weird scratching noises coming from downstairs.  Tim immediately went downstairs to investigate and within a few moments had rushed back upstairs to tell me he thought Dende had a seizure.  So, I hopped up and rushed downstairs to see what was happening.  Tim said he was initially worried that he had broken his back legs somehow because they appeared to be tucked under his body and he wasn’t able to move them.  He was half in his cage and half out (because we keep his kennel open with the standing cage in front so he can come in and out).  By the time I got downstairs he was just lying on the floor in front of his kennel.  After a little bit of coaxing and waiting he slowly started to try moving his legs and stand.  He fell over once and then finally was able to walk in the living room (but walking funny).  He did eventually loosen up and was able to walk and sit and everything so Tim stayed up with him for a little longer and I went back to bed.  Tim told me later that he had let Dende outside and he threw-up quite a bit as well… better outside then inside I say!

So, we seem to agree that it was a seizure.  But we have no idea why.

It also got me thinking… I wonder if this has happened before and we didn’t know it–and maybe that’s why he’s afraid of his kennel so much.  Just a thought.

Anyway, he seems to be much better today.  Not 100% himself, but better.

I hope he is alright. We over here (especially Audrey) are big Dende fans!

Poor Dende! 🙁 If seizures in dogs are anything like the ones that people have he probably felt very tired and lethargic and had a huge headache afterwards. I hope it doesn’t happen again.

I remember his first one, and that was scary. Hope it doesn’t become a common occurrence.
