Writing about all the big & little things

Too much love?

Ahh! So much love!

Chloe (bless her little heart) loves JD so very much.   And we’ve said from the beginning, that she may actually love him too much if that’s possible.  I’m constantly amazed that the novelty of having a baby around hasn’t worn off.  She’ll still ask to hold him and she wants to do everything that she sees us do (talk to him, kiss him, tickle him…).  And for the most part he doesn’t mind at all.  In fact, he seems to genuinely enjoying having her attention.  If he’s upset and I can’t get to him right away I’ll ask Chloe to go and sing to him or read him a book and it does the trick.

It’s precious.

I love my kids.

    Love the picture!

It is funny how we mothers worry that the others in the family, i.e. the older siblings, won’t love this little baby that we love so much. But, really, the same things that make us love that baby make others in the family love him, too. Like the fact that he is your baby — that he belongs to your family group. And the fact that he is both helpless and cute. And the fact that he responds with love (usually) to your love. So I guess it makes sense that everyone in the family falls in love with the newest addition as much as we, as the mother, do. I know that in some rare instances this doesn’t happen and that is both sad and sometimes tragic. But I think that most of the time people can’t help but fall in love with their baby, whether it is their sibling or their child.

Now things can always change when the baby becomes an ornery toddler and presents everyone with less things to love and more things to be frustrated at, like grabbing your toys or ripping up your artwork or eating your Barbie’s shoes. Just one of the many things that makes being a mother such a challenge!
